After long wait we see Manawanui again

By Neale Donnelley TVN Wednesday, September 19, 2012 - 12:30 PM

After a series of minor setbacks, popular galloper, Manawanui, will resume on Saturday at Randwick in the Group 2 $200,000 The Shorts, over 1200 metres. Trainer, Ron Leeman, has deliberately taken his time with last year’s Golden Rose winner and Caulfield Guineas runner-up, but finally he’s ready to race again. Regular rider, Glyn Schofield, told TVN today Manawanui felt like he was back to his best when running second in a trial at Warwick Farm last Friday. “It was the old Manawanui. Ron has had some issues with him but he’s got him right, and his patience may well pay off now,” Schofield said. Manawanui has drawn barrier 13 on Saturday. And under the set weights and penalties conditions of the race, will carry top-weight of 58.5kgs.
