Australia’s best staying mare Exceptionally will run in the $200,000 Ballarat Cup next Sunday.
Trainer Terry O’Sullivan told TVN this morning she had pulled up remarkably well after her eye-catching second to Tanby in Saturday’s Sandown Classic.
“She has pulled up that well I think we’ll go to the Ballarat Cup. I’m going to get the vet to go over her tomorrow but at this stage I can’t see why she wouldn’t run in it,” O’Sullivan said.
Win, lose or draw that will be her last run this preparation before going for a spell.
“I’ll have a good look at the Sydney Cup with her in the autumn and they can get some rain at that time of year up there sometimes,” he said.
“We didn’t hit a wet track all Spring with her but she has run well in everything,” he said.
Exceptionally prefers wet ground, but has raced well throughout the Spring on firm to good tracks.
“I don’t think running in the Ballarat Cup will hurt her so we’ll go that way,” O’Sullivan added.
