Other Comments / Explanations:
Race 1 – BALLARAT COME TO LIFE SV 2YO MAIDEN PLATE - 1000 metres:
On jumping away Bold Cover shifted out and made contact with She’s So Shady.
Youpayisay jumped away awkwardly.
Youpayisay raced wide without cover throughout.
In the straight Hackles laid in under pressure and inconvenienced Quick Schnitzel passing the 100 metres when Hackles shifted in.
Subsequent to the running of the race riders voiced their concerns regarding the visibility which may be of concern later in the day when the track deteriorates, however riders agreed to continue riding and re-assess the matter on a race to race basis.
Race 2 – SPORTSBET.COM.AU SUPER SECOND CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1000 metres:
J. Gould trainer of Evenaz was fined the sum of $200 for presenting the mare to race in plates which were not up to industry standard. As a result Evenaz had to be re-plated.
Esprit Rossa was slow to begin.
Just For Show and Skating For Gold bumped on jumping away due to both horses shifting ground.
Approaching the 800 metres Cosmic Demon and Just For Show raced tight for a number of strides between Skating For Gold, which shifted out slightly and Dancingonthepeak, which shifted in.
Dancingonthepeak and Lovernotafighter raced wide throughout without cover.
Rounding the home turn Esprit Rossa (J. Todd) had to be checked between Lovernotafighter and Just For Show (D. Nikolic), which shifted out slightly. Whilst Stewards took into account J. Todd’s evidence that his mount was reluctant to race inside runners, they nonetheless advised D. Nikolic to show greater caution in similar circumstances.
J. Todd rider of Esprit Rossa which performed below market expectations stated that although his mount had previously won on a heavy track, in his opinion it did not handle todays heavy track conditions.. A subsequent Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Race 3 – KAROVA LOUNGE MAIDEN PLATE - 1200 metres:
Dhammasara shifted out on jumping away and took Mercademy out on to the hindquarters of Quick Stepper.
Midnight Lad raced wide throughout without cover.
J. Winks rider of Mercademy which performed poorly and gave ground quickly in the straight, explained that the gelding failed to handle todays extremely heavy track conditions.
B. Higgins rider of Mariner reported that his mount failed to handle todays heavy track conditions.
Subsequent to the running of this event all riders raised concerns with the limited visibility as rain had continued to fall between races 2 and 3. All riders riding in the following event voted unanimously that it was unsafe to continue due to the visibility, stewards agreed with their assessment and therefore abandoned the race meeting at 12.52 p.m

Race 10 – Race 10 – TOBIN BROTHERS WERRIBEE 0-62 HANDICAP - 1600 metres:
N Walsh, trainer of Mawari was later questioned regarding his runner settling further forward than expected. He stated that he had instructed D Yendall to be more positive on Mawari however did not think it would have the speed to settle outside the leader. Stewards noted his comments however reminded him of his obligations to advise stewards of any change to tactics in future.
