Unbeaten WA sprinter Barakey passed his barrier-trial test without incident at Caulfield this morning.
Following his shock scratching at the barriers in last Saturday’s Oakleigh Plate when favourite to extend his unbeaten streak to 12, Barakey was ordered by stewards to barrier-trial to their satisfaction before being permitted to race again.
He went into the gates and jumped cleanly this morning, winning a trial over ‘about’ 700 metres.
His trainer, former jockey Jim Taylor rode Barakey in this morning’s trial.
Barakey will now trial down the Flemington straight next Tuesday morning in preparation for the $1 million Newmarket Handicap (1200m) the following Saturday.
