The first race on Swan Hill's three-day Cup carnival has provided a very apt result with the David Hayes-trained filly Beautiful Pleasure, a daughter of Elvstroem, scoring a narrow victory.
On a day where the Vobis Gold Elvstroem Classic is run in recognition of that former mavellous six-time Group 1 winner, it was fitting that a daughter of his should salute.
Elvstroem, of course, won the 1300m two-year-old race at Swan Hill back in 2003, and his name was added to the title of the race in 2010.
Beautiful Pleasure, whilst not lining up in the race named after her sire, has done the next best thing and taken out a 1200m fillies and mares maiden at her first start.
Retained to race by her owners at Blue Gum Farm, Beautiful Pleasure is out of their former classy racemare Personal Ensign (by Rubiton), who achieved three wins in her career including the listed Northwood Plume Stakes.
