Race 1 – CHRISTMAS IN JULY 0-120 STEEPLECHASE - 3200 metres:

Chaparro jumped the second obstacle awkwardly.

After jumping the second last obstacle Berlioz knuckled and dislodged its rider G. Bedggood.   G. Bedggood was examined by the Club’s Doctor and passed fit to fulfil his remaining engagements.   This incident will be referred to the Jumps Review Panel.

Jockey Jack jumped the last obstacle awkwardly.

Near the 200 metres R. Eynon rider of Rabbuka accidentally dropped his whip.

During the running of the race Boland lost its off fore plate. 

Stewards opened an inquiry into the riding tactics adopted by S. Pateman rider of Chaparro particularly from the 1600 metres to the entrance to the straight.   After taking evidence from S. Pateman the gelding’s rider and Mr. P. Payne trainer of the gelding, Stewards adjourned the inquiry to a date to be fixed.   A subsequent Veterinary examination of Chaparro revealed no abnormalities.

Boland which performed poorly was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported the gelding was lame in the near fore leg.  Mr. R. Fryer trainer of Boland was notified he must be in receipt of a Veterinary Certificate prior to racing again.

A subsequent Veterinary examination of Berlioz revealed no abnormalities.

Race 2 – TASTE OF SPRING SUNDAY 9 SEPTEMBER MAIDEN HURDLE (1) - 3200 metres: 

Kulax jumped away awkwardly.

Conscribe jumped the first obstacle very awkwardly and almost dislodged its rider P. Gallagher resulting in him losing both his irons.   After jumping the second obstacle the saddle on Conscribe shifted sideways, which resulted in P. Gallagher its rider, becoming unbalanced and being dislodged.   Conscribe will be referred to the Jumps Review Panel. A subsequent Veterinary examination revealed the gelding was lame in the near hind leg.   Mr. A. Peterson trainer was notified he must be in receipt if a Veterinary Clearance for Conscribe prior to racing again.

Mateo made a faulty jump at the second last obstacle in the back straight and almost fell.

Court Ruler jumped the last obstacle in the back straight awkwardly and was then hampered shortly afterwards by the riderless Conscribe which shifted in.

Near the 1000 metres Court Ruler was again hampered by the riderless horse and near the 600 metres the riderless horse shifted out and made heavy contact with Court Ruler which again became unbalanced.

Kulax which was weakening, made a faulty jump at the last obstacle.

R. Waymouth rider of Mateo explained that he eased the gelding out of the race at the top of the straight as he felt there was something amiss with Mateo’s action.   A subsequent Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.   Mateo will be referred to the Jumps Review Panel.

Race 3 – JAYCO ROAD TO FREEDOM MAIDEN HURDLE (2) - 3200 metres: 

Jeune Baby Jeune and Eightways both jumped away awkwardly.

In the early and middle stages Jeune Baby Jeune over-raced and had a tendency to hang out.

Jeune Baby Jeune was also obliged to race wide without cover.

For a short distance near the 500 metres on the first occasion Mossdale raced tightly to the inside of Wells.

Mancusa made a faulty jump at the second obstacle in the back straight.

At the last obstacle in the back straight Ten Bells Inn had to be checked when tightened for room between Dava Boy which shifted out slightly and Mossdale, which jumped the obstacle awkwardly and shifted in abruptly.

Eightways jumped the second last obstacle awkwardly.

Race 4 – MY JET-LIMO SV MAIDEN PLATE - 1100 metres:

Andreyevich which had been restless in its barrier stall jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

Shortly after the start Shellbastana shifted in and made contact with Leica Duel.   Shellbastana then continued to lay in for the remainder of the race.

Near the 700 metres, Shellbatana, when over-racing was steadied off the heels of Streiff.   Best In Town which was following, was hampered in consequence.

From the entrance to the straight until the 200 metres Let It Rain and Best In Town had difficulty obtaining clear runs.

Near the 200 metres when obtaining clear running Best In Town raced tightly between Streiff which shifted in slightly and Andreyevich which shifted out slightly.

During the running of the race Andreyevich lost its near hind plate.

J. Noonan rider of Shellbatana reported on scales that the gelding hung in throughout the event.

Race 5 – TVN EVERY RACING MOMENT F & M MAIDEN PLATE - 1600 metres: 

On arrival on course Vivacious Miss which had been restless in the float on route to the course was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who deemed it unfit to start. Acting on this, Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Vivacious Miss at 1.00 p.m.

Kyoto Time jumped away awkwardly which resulted in its rider C. Symons losing the use of his near side iron for a short distance.

Also at the start Alpine Valley which had been marginally slow to jump away was then tightened for room between My Saving Grace and Reyadah, which jumped away awkwardly and shifted in.   As a result of this tightening Alpine Valley had to be checked.

In the early stages Mayara had a tendency to over-race.

Near the 1400 metres Kyoto Time when racing ungenerously, knuckled.

Miss Astronomer and Super Cali were obliged to race wide without cover throughout.

Near the 400 metres Mayara which had been held up for clear running was then disappointed for a run between My Saving Grace and Reyadah where there was insufficient room to improve.

Rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight Running Eagle had difficulty obtaining a clear run.

In the straight She’s Our Wha Wha hung out.

When questioned D. Nikolic rider of Bon Delicieux which raced in a more forward position today explained that the mare’s trainer Ms K. Rousseaux had instructed him that it the mare jumped well it was her intention to have it ridden in a more forward position. D. Nikolic added that after jumping away well he then rode the mare forward. Ms Rousseaux when questioned confirmed these instructions but added that due to the lack of pace in the race the mare did obtain a position more forward than she had intended.   Ms. Rousseaux was reminded of her obligations to notify Stewards of any change of tactics.

J. Noonan rider of Super Cali which performed poorly explained he felt there was something amiss with the mare’s action.   A subsequent Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Mr. I. Nolte trainer of Lubin Gin Fizz was severely reprimanded for presenting the mare on course when not shod to industry standard.

Race 6 – BOOK YOUR FUNCTION AT SILKS COUNTRY SHOWCASE BM72 HANDICAP - 2400 metres: 

Chosen One was marginally slow to begin and was then tightened for room between Deep Forest and Tyira Ace, which shifted out after jumping away awkwardly.

Near the 1000 metres Moxie Air commenced to over-race.   Moxie Air then shifted in and tightened Robrick before then shifting out and taking Love My World out off its course and as a result hampering that mare.   Shortly after this incident Love my World was then tightened for room and had to be steadied between Moxie Air, which continued to race ungenerously and shifted out slightly and Doosra Diamond, which shifted in marginally before being corrected by its rider.

Prior to the home turn Love my World was momentarily held up for clear running.

On scales D. Nikolic rider of Moxie Air which had performed poorly explained in his opinion there was something amiss with the gelding.  A subsequent Veterinary examination revealed the gelding was showing signs of respiratory abnormalities.    Mr. B. Laming trainer of Moxie Air was notified he must be in receipt of a Veterinary Clearance with the satisfactory results of an endoscopic examination prior to racing again.

D. Moor rider of Deep Forest which gave ground in the straight explained that after being caught wide for the majority of the race Deep Forest did not respond to his riding in the straight.

Race 7 – SCHWEPPES COUNTRY SHOWCASE 0-68 HANDICAP - 1600 metres: 

Starred For Life jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

Justsay Sumthink knuckled at the start.

Kingdom Of War was marginally slow to begin.

After passing the 500 metres Gotta Dream had to be steadied off the heels of Some Target, which shifted out slightly.

Prior to rounding the home turn Delighted Owners was held up for clear running.

Prior to rounding the home turn until passing the 300 metres New Venture was held up for a clear run.

Near the 300 metres New Venture which had been held up for a clear run was then checked when tightened for room between Justsay Sumthink and No Rhyme Or Reason (R. Booth) which after initially being taken in slightly by Some Target then shifted in and away from that gelding.   After taking into account all the circumstances involved Stewards notified R. Booth that when in similar circumstances he must do his utmost to protect his fellow riders.

D. Yendall rider of Chaparral Lass 5 placegetter, was reminded of his obligations to ride all his mounts out to the end of the race.

Race 8 – BRAIDIES TAVERN COUNTRY SHOWCASE F & M 0-68 HANDICAP - 1400 metres: 

Prior to the start of the race Mr. T. Noonan approached the yard Stewards and explained that due to the unruly nature of Trista Rossa he had been unable to apply the tongue tie to that mare. Stewards acceded to Mr. Noonan’s request to race without a tongue tie.

Correct weight was delayed as the connections of 2 placegetter, Orlando’s Bride wished to view the photo finish image.   After viewing the image the connections agreed with the Judge’s placings and correct weight was declared.

Shortly after the start Yule Luvit Keep Eve and Tottenham Girl were all tightened for room between Skitter which shifted out  abruptly and Trista Rossa.

In the early and middle stages Fomalite over-raced.

Yuka Joy was obliged to race wide throughout.

From the middle stages onwards Trista Rossa raced wide.

From prior to the home turn until passing the 200 metres Keep Eve was held up for a clear run.

After passing the 200 metres Trista Rossa (J. Noonan) which had a tendency to lay in, shifted in, which resulted in Tottenham Girl having to be steadied.   J. Noonan was notified to exercise greater care when in similar circumstances.

After passing the 200 metres Yuka Joy was hampered when tightened for room between Tottenham Girl and Lucky Sparkle.

Over the concluding stages Lucky Sparkle had some difficulty obtaining clear running.

Race 9 -  LADIES IN RACING MAGAZINE CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1100 metres:

On jumping away Similar shifted out and made heavy contact with Abby’s Emblem and as a result Similar had to be severely checked.   Also at this point In Spirit knuckled, shifted in and also made contact with Abby’s Emblem.

Near the 600 metres Abby’s Emblem shifted in and away from Spring Raider and tightened the running of Dhammasara.

After passing the 400 metres Oh Teary Me shifted out to avoid the heels of Blaze It Up which also shifted out slightly at this point.

Rounding the home turn Shadow Tales was held up for clear running.

Passing the 300 metres, Bangatang which was shifting out, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Half His Luck (M. Walker), which shifted in.   M. Walker was notified to exercise greater care when in similar circumstances.

In the early part of the straight Half His Luck had a tendency to lay in.

B. Melham rider of Esprit Rossa pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, the careless riding being that he permitted his mount to shift out near the 400 metres when not sufficiently clear of Abby’s Emblem resulting in that mare having to be checked to avoid Esprit Rossa’s heels and continuing to shift out resulting in Spring Raider which was racing to the outside of Abby’s Emblem also having to be checked . B. Melham was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence midnight Sunday 22 July 2012 and to expire midnight Friday 3 August, 2012 a total of 12 race meetings, 4 city 8  country.   In assessing penalty Stewards took into account his guilty plea ,viewed the incident in the mid range and also took into account that Esprit Rossa did have a tendency to lay out during this incident.

B. Melham rider of Esprit Rossa was fined the sum of $200 for weighing in in excess of his allotted weight. 

Mr. D. Boal trainer of Similar which performed poorly, was notified a warning would be placed against the mare for her performance today and a repetition may lead to further action being taken against the mare in the future.
