Other Comments / Explanations:

Stewards accepted the explanation of D. Moor for his late arrival on course.

Stewards accepted the explanation of T. Sadler for his dual engagement in Race 8

Race 1 – KIDS SUMMER FUN DAY AT BENDIGO F & M MAIDEN PLATE - 1000 metres:

Lady Hillingdon, Leica Tornado, Miss Carter and Chilli Beach all jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

Lady Jo was obliged to race wide without cover throughout and near the 600 metres shifted out and away from Chilli Beach.

Near the 500 metres Miss Pussigato had to be checked when tightened for room between Chilli Beach (C. Newitt) which shifted in slightly, and Cailin Brea which was taken out by Leica Tornado which when racing greenly, shifted out and away from the rail.  During this incident Miss Pussigato clipped the heels of Chilli Beach.   As this incident was not fully attributable to any one rider, Stewards took no action other than to advise C. Newitt rider of Chilli Beach, when in similar circumstances he must do his utmost to protect his fellow riders.

R. Plumb rider of Miss Carter was severely reprimanded for using his whip in a forehand manner on consecutive strides prior to the 100 metres.

Race 2 – SCHWEPPES MAIDEN PLATE - 1300 metres:

At the start Delzuler jumped away awkwardly, shifted inwards and made heavy contact with its inside starting gate and then tightened Russian Royal in on to Hoedown.  Due to this tightening Russian Royal had to be checked severely and when being checked made heavy contact with the hindquarters of Hoedown, which became extremely unbalanced.

Also at the start Side By Side had to be checked when tightened for room between Picante and Bern Bee which shifted in abruptly.

Hoedown was obliged to race wide without cover.

Near the 800 metres Yambuna Bridge which had commenced to over-race, then had to be checked to avoid the heels of Brave Spur.   Side By Side which was following Yambuna Bridge also had to be checked as a consequence..

H. Coffey rider of Side By Side reported his mount raced greenly throughout.

L. Coffey rider of Delzuler which performed poorly explained when put under pressure Delzuler did not respond to his riding from after passing the 600 metres and in his opinion was disappointing.   A subsequent veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no abnormalities.

Race 3 – CENTREBET SV 3YO F MAIDEN PLATE - 1400 metres:

Subsequent to the running of Race 3 the Club Doctor examined J.. Hill and deemed him unfit to fulfil his remaining engagements.    J. Hill does not require a Medical Certificate prior to riding again.

Cosmic Melody was marginally slow to jump away.

Also at the start Regaliti jumped away awkwardly and then had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Simply Pure, which shifted in.

Approaching the 600 metres Regaliti had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Galop Infernale.

Race 4 – JAYCO MAIDEN PLATE - 2200 metres:

After being caught wide early Karata was then permitted to stride forward by its rider C. Schofield to obtain a position outside the leader near the 1600 metres.

In the early stages Dollar Deal had a tendency to over-race and got its head up on several occasions.

In the straight Dollar Deal had a tendency to lay in under pressure.

B. Rawiller rider of Pedinbe which performed below market expectations could offer no explanation for the geldings performance today other than it was disappointing.   A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Race 5 – MONACO SOUND TOUR OF VICTORIA 0-68 HANDICAP - 2400 metres:

In the straight Campeao had a tendency to lay in under pressure.

Race 6 – CARLTON MID 0-62 HANDICAP - 1100 metres:

At the start Master Houdini and Reel Way were both slow to jump away.

Shortly after the start Carbon Spirit which had jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and made heavy contact with Miss Written which resulted in Carbon Spirit becoming extremely unbalanced.  Miss Written then shifted out and tightened Warrego Melody out on to Our Rubistar which then had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Lourdeaux.   Shortly after this incident Warrego Melody then shifted in and took Miss Written inwards which resulted in Carbon Spirit becoming tightened for room between that mare and Set To Pounce and having to be checked.

In the early stages Our Rubistar over-raced.

Rounding the home turn Reel Way was held up for a clear run.   Reel Way then shifted out in an attempt to gain a clear run and had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Societal.   After obtaining a clear run near the 300 metres Reel Way laid in and was reluctant for a short distance to take a run between Societal and Speedy Bullet.

Reel Way laid in until after passing the 200 metres

Over the concluding stages Warrego Melody laid in under pressure.

J. Todd rider of Miss Written which performed below market expectations could offer no explanation for the mare’s performance today other than Miss Written did become very agitated behind the barriers prior to the start of the race, and in his opinion this may have affected Miss Written’s performance.   A stable representative of S. Fliedner trainer of Miss Written indicated that the mare would now be spelled.

J. Rule rider of Carbon Spirit which performed poorly explained the mare did not respond to his riding when put under pressure, and in the straight felt there was something amiss with Carbon Spirit’s action.   A subsequent veterinary examination revealed a slower than normal recovery.

Race 7 – COUNTRY RACING ITS A GREAT DAY OUT 0-62 HANDICAP - 1600 metres:

At the start Shelbyville, Lonhrotothetop and Give Me Faith were all slow to jump away.

Prior to the home turn Island Home was held up for a short distance.

Rounding the home turn Darwin was also held up for a clear run.   At the entrance to the straight Darwin then had to be eased off the heels of Island Home when improving.

C. Robertson rider of Lonhrotothetop which gave ground quickly over the concluding stages could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance today.   A subsequent veterinary examination revealed a slower than normal recovery.

D. Yendall rider of Sandbeeta which performed below market expectations explained in his opinion the filly was not suited to todays firm track conditions.

Ernie’s Mate was obliged to race wide without cover.

Approaching the 300 metres Crozzle had to be steadied when tightened for room by Denburst (J. McNeil) which shifted in when not sufficiently clear.   J. McNeil was reprimanded and notified to exercise more care in future.

C. Schofield rider of Spice Beauty which performed below market expectations could offer no explanation for the filly’s performance today.   A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

J. Fry rider of Aegean which performed below market expectations explained that the gelding had to work hard to obtain the lead in the early section of the race and this may have been detrimental to Aegean finishing off the race today.   J.
