Bieg, Dashitude set for Melbourne return

Morphettville trainer Chris Bieg and his little filly Dashitude will be looking to maintain their perfect record in Victoria at Moonee Valley this Friday night.

Dashitude is set to run in the $150,000 Group 3 TBV/Gallagher Bassett Champagne Stakes (1200m), a race restricted to three-year-old fillies. She won a two-year-old fillies race over 1000 metres at Caulfield on March 24. That was Bieg’s first runner in the state.

Bieg says he will use the Champagne Stakes to map out the rest of her spring campaign.

“There’s certainly a suitable race for her each day of the Melbourne Cup carnival so it just depends which race we pick out for her,” Bieg said.

The daughter of Dash for Cash, who cost $5500 as a yearling purchase from the Adelaide Magic Millions, is no stranger to stakes company. She won the listed Dequetteville Stakes (1100m) at Morphettville in April. She was spelled after finishing sixth in the Group 3 The Jansz (1200m) at her next start.

Dashitude returned to the racetrack with an impressive trial win at Morphettville Parks on September 10 over 1000 metres. She resumed with a win, in a three-horse field, over 1000 metres at Morphettville five days later.

“Those small fields are so technical and tricky. She got the job done when it counted. She hit the line strongly to win which gives me a lot of confidence going into Friday night."

Bieg reports that although Dashitude hasn’t grown physically, she has developed mentally.

“She is coping with her trackwork a lot better than she was as a younger horse,” he said.

Amy Herrmann, who steered Dashitude to victory at Caulfield back in March, will ride her on Friday night.
