TOP apprentice Chad Schofield received a 10-meeting suspension on a careless riding charge today at Caulfield.

Schofield pleaded guilty to causing interference to Jackie Berriman in the Champagne Pommery Handicap, but it did him no favours.

Racing Victoria chief steward Terry Bailey said Schofield’s guilty plea was nullified because of his poor record.

Bailey noted that it was Schofield’s fifth suspension since October 1 last year.

He said the penalty fell in the low range.

Schofield’s penalty will begin after tomorrow’s races and he can resume at Sportingbet Park on Wednesday, February 6.
