News out of the UK on racingpost overnight sees former champion racehorse and sire Generous passing away at the age of 25.
Generous was clearly the best racehorse of his three-year-old year anywhere in the world and he backed that up with a huge 137 Timeform rating (which was controversially down-graded to 136 earlier this week).
As a three-year-old he won the Epsom Derby by five lengths, the Irish Derby by two lengths and the King George Stakes by an amazing seven lengths.
He also won the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes as a two-year-old.
He went on to become a marvellous sire throughout the world, standing in the UK, New Zealand and Ireland over the years.
He produced 45 Stakes winners and several Group 1 winners, and is now internationally recognised as an outstanding broodmare sire.
He died in Northern Ireland where he spent the last few years of his life.
