Committed out for the spring

The spring campaign of three-year-old gelding Committed is over after his unplaced effort at Caulfield this afternoon.

Committed, trained by Colin and Cindy Alderson at Cranbourne, pulled up with a vertical stress fracture in his near fore shin after crossing the line in ninth place.

The injury means he will be sidelined for six months.

Committed started an easy favourite on course, drifting from $2.50 to $3 before firming back into $2.70.

Craig Williams described his run immediately after dismounting as “disappointing”.

“I thought he was a horse with real, serious upside coming into the race. He got a little bit of a squeeze on the home turn (by Hvasstan)," Williams said.

“I thought he was surge afterwards in the straight, after he got balanced up again but he didn’t."

Committed was having his second start today. He won impressively on debut in a Cranbourne 1400 metre maiden as $1.30 favourite on September 6.
