DARLEY will showcase three of their Blue Diamond hopefuls in two States next Saturday as they ramp up their assault on the $1 million race.
Montsegur and Kuroshio will run in the Blue Diamond Previews (1000 m) at Caulfield while Guelph will start in a set weights and penalties race, also over 1000 m, at Warwick Farm.
Paul Snowden, the Melbourne foreman for his father Peter, said that Metastasio, impressive debut winner at Flemington yesterday, would run in the Diamond Prelude (1100 m) at Caulfield on February 9.
Snowden put Montsegur, brilliant winner at Caulfield on Boxing Day, at the top of his Diamond ‘batting order’ while McEvoy said he had Kuroshio, winner of a Listed Race back in the spring, on top of his list.
McEvoy will ride both youngsters on Saturday.
Sportsbet.com.au has Montsegur as a $11 equal second favourite along with Metastasio behind Miracles Of Life, the $7 favourite.
Guelph, runner-up behind Brilliant Bisc in the Listed Gimrack Stakes at Randwick in the first week of October, trialled at Hawkesbury last Tuesday, where she finished second.
Snowden said it is the intention to bring Guelph to Melbourne for the Blue Diamond (1200 m) at Caulfield on February 23 if she races well on Saturday.
He said Kuroshio had a jump out at Werribee last Friday while Metastasio had taken no harm from her soft win in yesterday’s Nursery Plate.
