Race 1 – NURSERY RIDGE ESTATE WINES MAIDEN PLATE - 1000 metres:
Acting on a confirmed telephone call from trainer, Mr B Keirl, that Cocotero was unable to be loaded onto the float, the mare was declared a late withdrawal at 11:10 am.
Annotator commenced awkwardly.
Money Box jumped out at the start, inconveniencing Thor’s Goddess, which had also been slightly slow to begin.
J Rule, rider of She’s Got Grunt, was questioned regarding his riding of the mare, particularly in the early stages of the straight. J Rule stated that She’s Got Grunt had shown a tendency in its races to fade out in the later stages, as a result the instructions were to keep the mare balanced for as long as possible before making his run late. After viewing the film, J Rule conceded that it may have been advantageous to place the mare under pressure earlier than he did, however was still of the belief that She’s Got Grunt failed to finish off the race as expected. His comments were noted.
Race 2 – HODGE LIVESTOCK & GRAIN TRANSPORT MAIDEN PLATE - 1350 metres:
Shortly after the start Alwyn’s Gift shifted out and away from Ray’s Rocket and as a result had to be eased off the heels of Esthermac.
After travelling a short distance Mossglow and Whoshottheyodeler came together.
Esthermac race wide without cover for the majority of the event.
In the middle stages Alwyn’s Gift hung outwards considerably placing its rider at a disadvantage for some distance.
Approaching the 400m Ski Lago improved onto the heels of the tiring Whoshottheyodeler, and as a result had to be checked by its rider. Ray’s Rocket, which was following, had to be steadied outwards to avoid the heels of Ski Lago.
Approaching the home turn and in the early stages of the straight, Dashdan was unable to obtain clear running until being steadied inwards shortly after straightening to obtain a clear passage.
Ski Lago was held up for clear running over the final 50m.
Irish Gold returned having cast both front plates in running.
Race 3 – GOLDACRES – BUILD YOUR SPRAYER AND WIN F&M 0 – 62 HANDICAP - 1620 metres:
One More Roll commenced awkwardly, throwing its head in the air.
After travelling a short distance One More Roll shifted out and away from Moon Glitter which shifted out slightly resulting in One More Roll throwing its head in the air.
Out Do Me also raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.
In the middle stages Out Do Me was inclined to pull hard, getting its head in the air on several occasions.
In the early stages of the straight Warwarick was in to lay inwards, placing its rider at a disadvantage for a short distance.
A post-race veterinary examination of Moon Glitter revealed a slower than normal recovery rate.
Race 4 – ONLY A LITTLE BIT OVER – TAC MAIDEN PLATE - 2000 metres:
Trainer, J Lake, advised Stewards prior to race two that it was his intention to have Sameral ridden further back in today’s event, as it had been failing to finish its races off. Sameral was ridden accordingly.
Passing the winning post on the first occasion Moment To Shine was inclined to lay outwards, and approaching the 1600m had to be steadied off the heels of Miss Fetarde.
Bells Of Brooklyn raced wide in the early stages, until being allowed to stride forward by its rider and obtain a position near the leader at the 1400m.
Approaching the 1200m Compelled shifted out to avoid the heels of Boss’s Choice and in doing so took Sameral wider on the track; as a result Sameral was placed in a three wide position without cover for the remainder of the event.
Moment To Shine was held up when unable to improve its position for a considerable distance approaching the home turn.
Approaching the 500m Bells Of Brooklyn had to be eased, when briefly tightened for room between Dame D’Or and Gaelstorm, which shifted in slightly.
Near the 400m Boss’s Choice was hampered when tightened between Bells Of Brooklyn and Moment To Shine, which shifted out.
Gaelstorm was inclined to lay outwards rounding the home turn, and shortly after straightening its rider, D Yendall, accidentally dropped his off-side rein.
A post-race veterinary examination of Light Sails, which performed poorly, revealed no abnormalities.
C Lindop, rider of Bells Of Brooklyn, which performed below market expectations, could offer no explanation for the poor performance and a post race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no abnormalities.
Three Chain Road cast its off-fore plate in running and Remember Riley its off-hind plate in running.
Race 5 – REV TOY / SIGNS R US COUNTRY SHOWCASE 0 – 68 HANDICAP - 2000 metres:
Correct weight was delayed to allow D Yendall, rider of the fifth placed Derisive, to view the official photofinish; after viewing the print D Yendall concurred with the judge’s decision and correct weight was declared.
After being loaded into the barriers Assessed, which was slightly fractious in the barriers getting its hind leg up for a short period, was removed from its barrier and after being examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon was passed fit to start.
On jumping away Sept Rouge shifted out, taking Viva Delspec out onto Resetable.
Resetable was obliged to race wide without cover in the early and middle stages.
Approaching the 700m Galactic Vision was taken back through the field when unable to obtain clear running behind the tiring Resetable. Galactic Vision continued to be held up for a considerable distance rounding the home turn behind Sept Rouge, which was also beginning to weaken.
Approaching the home turn Bel Sir, which was held up for clear running, shifted out to improve and in doing so hampered Derisive.
Shortly after straightening Kolokotronis shifted inwards abruptly before being straightened by its rider.
N McLean, rider of Resetable, which performed below market expectations, could offer no explanation for the poor performance and a post-race veterinary examination of Resetable revealed no abnormalities.
Race 6 – LISTON LANDERS CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS DONALD CUP - 1620 metres:
De Mars was slow to begin.
C Lindop, pleaded guilty to a charge under AR137(a) for careless riding in that she allowed her mount to shift in near the 200m when insufficiently clear of Montjeu Madame which was taken in having to be checked further De Mars, which was racing to the inside of Montjeu Madame was also taken inwards, having to be checked off the heels of Redhead Rage. In assessing the matter Stewards conceded that there was a slight shift outwards by Redhead Rage, which contributed to a minor degree the interference to De Mars. C Lindop had her licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence midnight 13 November 2011 and expire midnight 24 November 2011, a total of 11 meetings (two metropolitan, nine country). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account C Lindop’s good riding record and deemed the incident to be in the mid range.
Knockout raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.
Over the concluding stages Amerryking had difficulty obtaining clear running.
Race 7 – PEA CO 0 – 68 HANDICAP - 1000 metres:
Prior to race six trainer, D Levett, advised that it was his intention to have Michellby Zodiac ridden further back in today’s event. Michellby Zodiac was ridden accordingly.
On jumping away Talia Mia was tightened for room between All In Favour and Foreign Christmas, due to both horses shifting ground.
Leaving the 800m Sky Rubi had to be checked outwards to avoid the fallen rider of Foreign Christmas, which further resulted in Michellby Zodiac also having to be checked. Talia Mia also had to be restrained inwards to avoid the fallen rider, which resulted in Rich Master which was racing to Talia Mia’s inside having to be checked.
Stately Dash raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.
An enquiry was adjourned into the reasons for E Curran, rider of Foreign Christmas, being dislodged approaching the 800m, due to E Curran being transported to hospital, the enquiry was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
Race 8 – BULOKE SHIRE 0 – 68 HANDICAP - 1350 metres:
Jimmy Shiraz was slow to begin.
Heathcliff was hampered shortly after the start by De Dion Bouton, which jumped in.
Audacity raced wide, without cover, for the majority of the event.
Passing the 600m Seeyatomoro, which was racing ungenerously, shifted out and had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Luckyi’mbarefoot.
Annie’s A Gem had a tendency to lay-in in the straight.
R Bradley, was questioned regarding De Dion Bouton settling in a forward position, which was contrary to its normal racing patter. R Bradley stated that with the step up in distance, the gelding began better than expected, therefore she allowed De Dion Bouton to stride forward and obtain a position to the outside of the leader. Her comments were noted.
B Egan, was severely reprimanded for using his whip in a forehand manner on six occasions prior to the 100m.
A post-race veterinary examination of Seeyatomoro, which performed poorly, revealed no abnormalities.
