Race 1 – 3HA/MIXXFM SV 3YO MAIDEN PLATE - 1000 metres:  Jordan Childs replaced Thomas Sadler on COWEYES as he did not arrive on course on time to fulfil his engagement.  As a result T. Sadler was severely reprimanded, in issuing the reprimand Stewards took into account the circumstances of his travel arrangements to the course.

TRICKY GLEN jumped awkwardly and lost ground.

ANNA JAZZ also jumped away awkwardly.

Also on jumping away COWEYES jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and took MISTER ELATION out onto GOLDEN COINS.

Near the 400 metres TRICKY GLEN had to be eased to avoid the heels of ANNA JAZZ and as a result shifted out and inconvenienced HOLLY HOLY (NZ).

In the straight TRICKY GLEN lay in under pressure.

Also in the straight CHICOTE BAR and ARGENTINIAN both had a tendency to lay in under pressure.

Jordan Childs, rider of COWEYES, which performed below market expectations explained that after racing greenly early COWEYES failed to respond to his riding from the 400 metres.  A subsequent veterinary examination revealed COWEYES was lame in the off fore leg.  Andrew Payne, Trainer of the gelding, was notified that he must produce a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness.

Andrew Payne, Trainer of COWEYES, was fined the sum of $200 for failing to produce ID Card.

Race 2 – DARRIWILL FARM MAIDEN PLATE - 1000 metres:  Shortly after the start KELSIE was hampered when tightened for room by BADENOCH which jumped away awkwardly and shifted out and SOME VALUE which after jumping away was then taken in by PAPER TRAIL which jumped away awkwardly and shifted in.

Near the 600 metres CHURCHELLE got its head up, shifted out and brushed SEA ‘N’ BELIEVE resulting in CHURCHELLE becoming unbalanced.

Near the 800 metres GARNISHEER had to be eased to avoid the heels of SEA ‘N’ BELIEVE.

Near the 300 metres SEA ‘N’ BELIEVE which had been held up before gaining a clear run rounding the home turn to the outside of ONE ‘N’ ONLY SECERET.

Jake Bayliss, rider of KELSIE, reported that he felt something was amiss with the mare.  KELSIE was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported the mare suffered minor abrasions to the right hind fetlock.

Race 3 – DML SECURITY 0-62 HANDICAP – 1000 metres:  Thomas Sadler, rider of JEDI MASTER, which performed below market expectations could offer no explanation for the poor performance other than after being placed under pressure with 400 metres to run failed to respond to his riding.  A subsequent veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was showing signs of a respiratory infection.   Darren Weir, Trainer of JEDI MASTER, was notified that prior to racing again he must produce a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness.

SPARTYPANTS jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

ROYAL KELLY which was slightly slow to begin then had to be checked to avoid the heels of FRUPPER which jumped away awkwardly and shifted in.

OURHALO raced wide without cover.

Rounding the home turn and until near the 150 metres SPARTYPANTS was unable to obtain a clear run.

Also rounding the home turn ROYAL KELLY had some difficulty in obtaining a clear run.

Rounding the home turn and in the straight OURHALO lay in under pressure.

Near the 50 metres MR CHUCKLE which was laying in, shifted in and momentarily inconvenienced NORDIC MONARCH.

Race 4 – MT LANGI GHIRAN MAIDEN PLATE - 1200 metres:  Luke Londregan, rider of STARCRY, which was eased down in the concluding stages explained that STARCRY hung out throughout the race and in the straight he felt that something had gone amiss with the gelding.  A subsequent veterinary examination of STARCRY revealed no abnormalities.  Neil Pfeiffer, Trainer of the gelding, was notified that prior to racing again STARCRY must trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

STARCRY jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and made heavy contact with HIRAFU resulting in both STARCRY and HIRAFU becoming unbalanced.

Throughout the race STARCRY raced wide without cover.

HIRAFU which was caught wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward near the 600 metres to take up a position leading on the rail.

Rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight MERRY YEOMAN was unable to obtain a clear run.

In the straight HESKET HAWK had a tendency to lay in under pressure.

Near the 100 metres I AM HARRY which was improving then had some difficulty in obtaining a clear run over the concluding stages.

Race 5 – ARARAT ABATTOIRS 0-68 HANDICAP – 1200 metres:  FLYING OMISSION was slow to begin.

SNEAKY was caught wide without cover.

Race 6 – ROYAL MAIL HOTEL WILLIAM THOMSON DUNKELD CUP - 1800 metres:  Jacob Londregan, rider of RUBAZI, was fined the sum of $200 for failing to claim his full allowance.

Prior to correct weight Anthony Darmanin, rider of BOJANI (third place getter), viewed the photo finish to ascertain as to whether he had run second.  After viewing the photo finish A Darmanin was satisfied with the Judge’s placing and correct weight was declared.

RUBAZI jumped away awkwardly.

Rounding the home turn and until near the 150 metres DIAMONDS AT NOON was unable to obtain a clear run.

Nikita McLean, rider of LE BARON (NZ), which performed poorly could offer no explanation for the poor performance.  A subsequent veterinary examination of LE BARON (NZ) revealed no abnormalities.

Race 7 – CENTREBET FIRE UP 0-58 HANDICAP - 1800 metres:  ENABLING (NZ) which had become fractious in the barrier was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who informed the Stewards that the gelding was unfit to take its place in the field.  Acting on this, Stewards withdrew the gelding at 4.37pm.  All monies bet for a win and/or place and concession betting on the late scratching to be refunded.  All successful bets on horses prior to time of withdrawal are subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket: Win bets: 11 cents Place bets (for winner): 11 cents Place bets (for 2) 10 cents Place bets (for 3) 11 cents.  All monies bet after the Stewards declaration of withdrawal to be paid at face value of ticket.    Jarrod McLean, Trainer of ENABLING (NZ), was notified that prior to racing again ENABLING (NZ) must gain improvement to race.

Approaching the winning post the first time MAGIC MINSTREL had to be eased and shifted out to avoid the heels of OUR ROSELLA (Linda Meech) which shifted in when not sufficiently clear.  L Meech was severely reprimanded and notified to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

Race 8 – AUSTRALIAN STOCKYARDS 0-58 HANDICAP - 1200 metres:  Approaching the 1000 metres I’M THE MAN shifted in abruptly and as a result inconvenienced WHERE’S THE REMOTE.

ENGINEERED jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and hampered BRAVE GIGGLE.

BRAVE GIGGLE raced wide without cover.

Near the 600 metres WHERE’S THE REMOTE commenced to over race then had to be eased to avoid the heels of I’M THE MAN.

Rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight I’M THE MAN was unable to obtain a clear run.

Jacob Rule, rider of BRAVE GIGGLE, which performed poorly explained that he believed that BRAVE GIGGLE had come to the end of its preparation.  A subsequent veterinary examination of BRAVE GIGGLE failed to reveal any abnormalities.

In the straight, SMALL PATCH lay in under pressure.
