VLAD Duric posted his 50th win for the season when he teamed with lightly raced Peter Moody-trained filly Free To Rein in the Slickpix Plate today at Sportingbet Park.
Duric’s latest success puts him fourth on the Victorian jockey’s premiership and sixth on the metropolitan ladder.
He’s also taking advantage of Luke Nolen’s holiday break as he’s teamed with Moody for winners at the past two city meetings.
Free To Rein, a daughter of Redoute’s Choice, appreciated the expanses of Sportingbet Park as she powered home to win impressively.
Tom Brideoake, stable foreman for Moody, who is on the Gold Coast for the Magic Millions sales, said there is plenty of upside to Free To Rein, which took on the colts and geldings and proved too strong.
Brideoake said there was much to like about Free To Rein’s victory given she had to overcome the second outside gate to win.
“She is an improving filly who looks a nice type,” Brideoake said.
“There is a lot to look forward to, the further the races get the better she will get.”
Duric agreed. He noted the filly was still immature, but stretched out nicely when he let her down.
“She will improve over more ground,” Duric predicted.
