Race 1caledonian hotel motel f&m maiden plate - 1009 metres:

 Mr A McKnight representing Mr B McKnight, trainer of Caniwin advised the Stewards prior to the running of race one that it was their intention to have the mare ridden in a more forward position, contrary to her recent pattern due to the addition of Blinkers.   Caniwin was ridden accordingly.

Bessel Beam jumped away awkwardly, shifted out abruptly and had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Flo’s Happy. 

Parousia jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. 

Caniwin raced wide and without cover in the early stages. 

Approaching the 800m Parousia when overracing had to be checked to avoid the heels of River God and as a result Parousia got its head up and raced ungenerously for some distance. 

Near the 700m Holly Can Do had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Alice’s Virtue which shifted in when racing close to the heels of Honey Green.  As a result of Holly Can Do being steadied Mac Carlie was hampered in consequence. 

Parousia continued to race ungenerously and approaching the 500m had to be steadied when tightened for room between Flo’s Happy and Mac Carlie. 

Rounding the home turn and until the 400m  Holly Can Do was held up when unable to obtain a clear run. 

Flo’s Happy layed out rounding the home turn and in the straight resulting in N McLean easing the mare down over the concluding stages.  A post race veterinary examination of Flo’s Happy revealed no abnormality. 

Rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight River God had some difficulty in obtaining a clear run.  River God then raced greenly in the straight and had a tendency to lay in under pressure from the 200m. 

Race 2two tarts catering maiden plate - 1618 metres: 

Prior to correct weight Ms R Williams rider of Kulamani, 4 placegetter, viewed the Stewards patrol film in the straight before deciding not to lodge an objection. 

Liberty Blaze which was fractious in its barrier was then slow to begin. 

Koura (NZ) raced wide and without cover in the early and middle stages. 

Rounding the home turn and until the entrance to the straight Chasing Drama and Kulamani were both held up when unable to obtain a clear run. 

Near the 300m Kulamani when attempting a run where there was insufficient room between Landy and Grubbs (NZ) made contact with the hindquarters of Grubbs (NZ) and was then obliged to change course to the inside of Landy to obtain clear running.  Rebecca Williams rider of Kulamani was notified to exercise care when attempting narrow runs in future. 

A post race veterinary examination of Koura (NZ) which performed poorly revealed no abnormalities. 

Tom Sadler rider of Ithacan Queen (NZ) which performed below market expectations explained that the mare travelled well until put under pressure near the 400m and failed to respond to his riding from that point.  Tom Sadler further explained in his opinion the mare failed to handle today’s good track condition and for this reason eased his mount down in the straight. 

Race 3moama bowling club 0-58 handicap - 1618 metres: 

Prior to correct weight J Mott rider of Dalkeith Dancer viewed the Steward’s patrol film before deciding not to lodge an objection. 

Revel In Glory and Ready Zuca were slow to begin. 

Brunette Blonde when overracing in the early and middle stages got its head up on a number of occasions.

Persian Jewels overraced through the middle stages. 

Royal Dalton raced wide and without cover throughout. 

Near the 1000m Dalkeith Dancer was momentarily inconvenienced when tightened for room by Persian Jewels which was taken in by Royal Dalton which shifted in. 

Near the 800m To Be Honest was hampered and obliged to shift in when taken in by Revel In Glory which shifted in. 

Rounding the home turn Dalkeith Dancer was held up when unable to obtain a clear run. 

Near the 400m Revel In Glory when improving to the outside of To Be Honest accidentally clipped the heels of Royal Dalton which weakened quickly resulting in Revel In Glory knuckling badly and Jack Hill the gelding’s rider being dislodged.    As Stewards could not fully attribute the incident to any one horse or rider, Stewards took no further action other than to remind all riders to exercise care in future.

Jack Hill was examined by the Club’s Doctor and was deemed unfit to fulfil his remaining engagements.  Jack Hill will be referred to the Racing Victoria Doctor for a medical clearance prior to riding again. 

Stewards inspected the section of track near the 400m following J Hill being dislodged and were satisfied the area was safe for the continuation of the meeting.

Approaching the 200m Laugh Adam was tightened for room between King Cuddler which shifted out and away from Brunette Blonde which shifted out slightly and Dalkeith Dancer which shifted in slightly, when taken in by To Be Honest which shifted in.  As a result of the tightening Laugh Adam accidentally clipped the heels of Dalkeith Dancer, knuckled and almost dislodged its rider Dean Holland.    As a result Laugh Adam was eased down over the concluding stages.   As Stewards could not attribute the incident to any one rider, no further action was taken.

Royal Dalton lost its near side hind plate during the running of the race. 

Race 4border inn hotel motel maiden plate - 1209 metres: 

Le Rough was marginally slow to begin. 

Piper Princess jumped away awkwardly. 

Near the 800m Rio Vista when racing three wide made contact with Ferlax (NZ) which shifted out.

Rounding the home turn and until the entrance to the straight Piper Princess was held up for clear running.    

A post race veterinary examination of Inkjet Sprinter which performed below market expectations revealed no abnormalities.

Endless Confession lost its near side fore plate during the running of the race. 

Race 5betfair 0-58 handicap - 1209 metres: 

Our Testament bounded on jumping away and as a result lost ground. 

Insurpassable was slow to begin.  Insurpassable then had a tendency to overrace in the early stages. 

Written Inthe Wind race wide and without cover throughout. 

At the entrance to the straight Bail Up and Chats Gal came together due to both horses shifting ground. 

Written Inthe Wind layed in under pressure in the straight. 

J Mott rider of Zaeem reported that his mount did not feel right in its off foreleg  action in the straight.  A subsequent veterinary examination of Zaeem failed to reveal any abnormalities. 

Luke Londregan rider of Belseye was fined the sum of $300 under the provisions of AR.137A(5)(a)(ii) for using his whip on seven occasions in a forehand manner prior to the 100m. 

Race 6classic rock bm72 handicap - 1209 metres:

Seeyasoon jumped away awkwardly. 

Red Eclipse got its head up in the early stages when being restrained to obtain cover. 

Rounding the home turn and until after passing the 200m Seeyasoon was held up when unable to obtain a clear run.

After passing the 200m Seeyasoon was obliged to change course to the outside of Beauty Cash to obtain clear running.

Minou raced wide without cover. 

Race 7sportsbet.com.au protest payout 0-68 handicap - 1618 metres: 

Island Bar jumped away awkwardly. 

Whiskey Cruyff was marginally slow to begin. 

Our Inheritance and Cloud Rock (GB)overraced in the early and middle stages

Passing the 600m Bona Fides which had obtained a run to the inside of Cloud Rock (GB) which shifted out when laying out.  Cloud Rock (GB) in turn shifted in making contact with the hindquarters of Bona Fides and as a result shifted in and away from Cloud Rock (GB) tightening the running of Our Inheritance which had to be checked.  Tsar Of Russia, Whiskey Cruyff, Island Bar & Dashing Stars which were following were hampered in consequence. 

Cloud Rock (GB) continued to lay out rounding the home turn. 

At the entrance to the straight Tsar Of Russia had to be steadied when attempting a narrow run to the inside of Our Inheritance due to that gelding shifting in slightly. 

Jye McNeil rider of Our Inheritance that led the field in today’s event explained to the Stewards that his mount overraced when pressured by Cloud Rock (GB) which raced to its outside and added that his mount commenced to weaken from the entrance to the straight.  J McNeil acceded that his mounts racing manners attributed to the disappointing performance.

When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on Cloud Rock (GB) Patrick Maloney the gelding’s rider explained he had been instructed to ride Cloud Rock (GB) in a more forward position due to the increase in distance of todays event and that after obtaining a position outside the leader he was unable to settle his mount.  P Maloney further added as a result of his mount overracing the saddle on the gelding slipped forward slightly placing him at a further disadvantage.  P Maloney added that his mount had a tendency to lay out from the 600m and that the early speed attributed to his mount tiring over the concluding stages.

Race 8moama rsl 0-62 handicap - 1412 metres:

Prior to the commencement of the meeting, Jim Mason trainer of Prime Reason notified the Stewards that with the removal of Blinkers from the gelding today it is their intention to have Prime Reason ridden in a more forward position should circumstances allow. Prime Reason settled in a mid field position.

Call On Kevin was slow to begin. 

Shortly after the start Our Schiller was hampered when tightened for room between Projects and Redial.

Approaching the 1000m Prince Of Darkness (NZ) had to be eased to avoid the heels of Jaffar which shifted in. 

After passing the 1000m Curlashot commenced to overrace and got its head up on a number of occasions when being eased to avoid the heels of Projects. 

Denburst raced wide and without cover throughout. 

Tom Sadler rider of Prime Reason which performed poorly explained that the gelding was under pressure from the 400m and failed to respond to his riding in the straight.  He further added that in his opinion the gelding had gone amiss in its action and for this reason eased his mount down over the concluding stages.  A subsequent veterinary examination of Prime Reason failed to reveal any abnormalities. 

Subsequent to the race Our Schiller was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported that the gelding was distressed and had a slower than normal recovery rate.  Trainer Brian McKnight was advised that prior to Our Schiller racing again he must be in receipt of a veterinary clearance including the satisfactory result of an EGC.

Prime Reason lost it off hind plate during the running of the race. 

Race 9sportsbet.com.au protest payout 0-62 handicap - 1412 metres: 

Cleaver jumped away awkwardly and was then hampered when tightened for room between Queenera which jumped away awkwardly and shifted out and Undiscovered.  As a result Cleaver lost ground. 

Also on jumping away Scooby Doo was hampered when tightened for room between Point Made (IRE) and Hunka Reigns.

Lorrie’s Gift raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages.

Round The Cape raced wide from the 1000m. 

Rounding the home turn and until the entrance to the straight Point Made (NZ) was held up when unable to obtain clear running. 

Cleaver had a tendency to lay out rounding the home turn.

Fearless Fly was held up for clear running from the 400m and until the entrance to the straight. 

Near the 100m John Kissick rider of Armona accidentally dropped his whip. 

Undiscovered lost its off hind plate during the running of the race. 

Danz Citi which performed poorly was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon which revealed no abnormalities. 

Craig Robertson rider of Lorrie’s Gift which performed below market expectations explained in his opinion the gelding failed to handle the quick back up from its recent start at Benalla on November 11, 2012.  A subsequent veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
