Near the 300m Precious Gem attempted to improve to the inside of What A Snitz where there was barely sufficient room.  As a result Precious Gem made contact with the running rail, became unbalanced and then shifted out.

After passing the 200m Pretty Possum had to be steadied when tightened for room between Curragh King and Kings Palace.

Linda Meech rider of Royal Haunt pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR.137(a), the careless riding being that near the 600m she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of What A Snitz resulting in that filly being tightened for room and having to be checked.  L Meech’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence at midnight January 1, 2013 and to expire at midnight January 7, 2013  (7 meetings, 1 metropolitan, 6 provincial).  In assessing penalty Stewards deemed the incident to be in the low range, taking into account Linda Meech’s guilty plea, excellent record and the racing manners of Royal Haunt.
