Flemington Track Manager Mick Goodie says the Flemington track is in the best condition it has been for three years.
After three days of the Melbourne Cup Carnival, the track has raced brilliantly, with no bias on any day and has given all runners every chance.
“We’ve been lucky the weather has been kind, but we haven’t really had to do much to the track expect put the rail out a few metres every day,” Goodie said this morning.
“There’s no doubt the track is back to its best. The grass cover is perfect and I haven’t had to replace a clod all week,” Goodie added.
The false rail will be out eight metres for the entire circuit tomorrow for Emirates Stakes day and Goodie said he would be putting 4mls of irrigation on the track today.
“The weather forecast is very good again with only a slight chance of a shower or two, so I’ll put 4mls on today and that will keep it just right,” he said.
