Geelong meeting moved to Pakenham

Delays in completing routine maintenance have forced Friday's Geelong Synthetic track meeting to be transferred to Pakenham.

Stewards inspected the track on Thursday and deemed that it wasn't fit to stage the meeting, forcing the switch of venues.

"After inspecting the surface this afternoon our stewards are not satisfied that horses and jockeys would have been afforded a consistent racing surface tomorrow," Racing Victoria's racing operations manager Paul Bloodworth said.

Bloodworth said the maintenance work would be completed over the weekend before Geelong's next meeting on Tuesday.

Pakenham is a turf track and was rated a heavy (10) on Thursday.

The city meeting at Sandown earlier this week was moved to Kilmore due to the wet weather, while a new jumps and highweights meeting was added for Warrnambool this Saturday after that track had a meeting washed out last Sunday.
