Race 1 – GRC FUNCTION & EVENT CENTRE SV 3YO FILLIES MAIDEN PLATE - 1000 metres:
Lady Jo was slow to begin.
Joyous Lady and Leline bumped on jumping.
Approaching the 800m turn Touched By Magic had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Oh Me Oh Mi (M Allen). M Allen was advised that he must be two lengths clear when shifting ground at all times.
Manor Lady, Joyous Lady and Leline all raced wide without cover.
Rounding the home turn Oh Me Oh Mi was held up when unable to obtain clear running.
Near the 150m Beleven attempted to shift out to obtain clear running and in doing so made contact with the hindquarters of Touched By Magic resulting in both horses getting unbalanced.
Race 2 – BECOME A GRC MEMBER MAIDEN PLATE - 1000 metres:
The start of this race was delayed by four minutes as B Rawiller, rider of Jump On The Jetty, was required to re-weigh when it was established he had weighed out without stirrup irons. B Rawiller pleaded guilty to a charge under AR175(k), that being negligence, thereby failing to comply with the provisions of AR118(b)(iii) and was fined $200.
Musbe Better jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of Monsieur Pierre.

Near the 500m Bush Bandit (O Ay) had to be checked when tightened for room between Loch Linnhe (J Cartwright), which shifted in, and Jump On The Jetty (B Rawiller) which was taken out slightly while obtaining a run to the outside of Perfect Era which was hanging out. In all the circumstances no direct action was taken however all riders were advised to exercise the utmost care when in similar circumstances in future.
Miss Anitores and Unlimited Funds both raced wide without cover.
Approaching the 100m Happy Galaxy (winner) shied and shifted out several horses finishing on the outside fence. Mr R Frew representing the stable was advised that a formal warning will be placed on the colt in relation to its racing manners.
J Cartwright (Loch Linnhe_ reported on scale that his saddle shifted to the near side on the home turn.
Race 3 – CHARLES ROSE JEWELLERS SV 3YO MAIDEN PLATE - 1200 metres:
Prior to correct weight N Callow rider of Prophecy viewed the Stewards film before deciding not to lodge an objection. Stewards were also satisfied there were no grounds for an objection.
Platinum Panther missed the start by one length.
Arranged (NZ) shifted out abruptly on jumping away.
My Weather Girl, which was marginally slow to begin, then had to be eased off the heels of Coco Dan which shifted in.
My Weather Girl raced wide without cover.
Rounding the home turn the eventual winner, Mirror Man, was held up and shifted back to the fence in the early part of the home straight to obtain a run.
Also rounding the home turn Kate Of Aintree was held up for a short distance when unable to improve its position.
Prophecy layed out rounding the home turn.
J Mott (Coco Dan) said his mount never travelled well and layed out throughout the race. A subsequent veterinary examination of Coco Dan revealed no abnormalities other than a delayed recovery.
Race 4 – REX GORELL VOLKSWAGEN F&M 0-58 HANDICAP - 1200 metres:
The start of the race was delayed slightly to avoid a clash with a race at the Menangle Harness meeting.
Belahina threw its head at the start and lost ground.
Near the 800m Al’s Mah Daddy got its head up when being restrained.
Relative Velocity (winner) raced wide without cover.
For a short distance rounding the home turn Al’s Mah Daddy was held up when unable to obtain clear running.
From the latter part of the home turn until near the 200m Blazing Glory had difficulty obtaining clear running.
At the entrance to the straight Belahina layed in.
L Coffey rider of Little Hope could offer no explanation for the mare’s poor performance today. A post race veterinary examination of Little Hope revealed the mare had sustained a laceration to her off fore pastern and also had a delayed recovery.
Race 5 – EMSLEY LODGE C,G&E 0-58 HANDICAP - 1200 metres:
Beacons was slow into stride.
Sharp Way was a little slow to begin.
Near the 1000m Denburst got its head up when being restrained off the heels of Full Flight.
Viscera (winner) raced wide without cover.
Approaching the 1000m Denburst got its head up when being restrained off the heels of Full Flight.
Near the 200m Acrophobia (NZ) was momentarily steadied off the heels of Buster McGee which shifted in.
Race 6 – JACOBS CREEK C,G&E 0-58 HANDICAP - 1200 metres:
After the running of Race 5 trainer Mr N Phillips advised Stewards that Rock ‘n’ Roll King will be ridden back today from its wide barrier. Rock ‘n’ Roll King, which was having its first start back from a spell today, settled last, made the home turn extremely wide and ran on in the straight.
Shortly after jumping away Bare Knuckle was hampered when tightened for room between Adios Muchachos and Lauries Legacy which shifted out after making contact with Lord Wolsey.
Whenwegoineast and Viper Room raced wide without cover.
Adios Muchachos commenced to lay out from the 400m and then hung out rounding the home turn shifting out several horses in the straight.
Shortly after straightening Ego’s Better had to be checked off the heels of Laguna De Bay (NZ) (A McCabe) which shifted in before being straightened by its rider. A McCabe was severely reprimanded and notified that he must exercise far more care when shifting ground in future.
At the 100m Viper Room (J Cartwright) had to be steadied over the heels of Adios Muchachos which was weakening, shifted in abruptly and hampered Top Tier. J Cartwright was advised to exercise more care in future.
When questioned to his riding of Rock ‘n’ Roll, particularly from the 500m, J Mott explained to the Stewards he had been instructed to ride the gelding back today and that even though he had been instructed to travel wide and give it plenty of galloping room in order to improve his position, he was forced even wider on the course when Bare Knuckle shifted out to obtain clear running. J Mott’s explanation was noted.
A post race veterinary examination of Rock ‘n’ Roll King revealed no abnormalities.
Race 7 – BAY FM MORNING CREW 0-68 HANDICAP - 1000 metres:
Trainer Mr J Leek was fined $50 for his late notification of M Walker as rider of Spirit Cent in this event.
Act Of Faith jumped away a little awkwardly.
Intencion, which was a little slow to begin, was then inconvenienced by Black Maria which knuckled and shifted in before being straightened.
Black Maria and Spirit Cent (winner) raced wide without cover.
Near the 500m Obliquity and Seqsational came together.
Rounding the home turn Intencion and Obliquity were held up when unable to improve their positions.
Street Crier was held up rounding the home turn and in the home straight, subsequently not being tested to the wining post. Street Crier also had to be checked near the 50m when again disappointed for a clear run between Your Excellency and Ready As Elle.
Spirit Cent layed in under pressure in the straight.
Race 8 – J B SCOTT F&M 0-68 HANDICAP - 1900 metres:
Keepher Close (NZ) (winner) raced wide without cover.
Rounding the home turn Lokelani was held up for a short distance.
D Gauci, rider of Viva La Stunner which performed poorly, stated that he was of the opinion the mare had come to the end of its preparation. A post race veterinary examination of Viva La Stunner revealed no abnormalities and a swab sample was taken for analysis.
C Newitt, rider of Our Tiger Lil which compounded from the 500m, could offer no explanation for the mare’s performance. A post race veterinary examination of Our Tiger Lil revealed no abnormalities.
Race 9 – CENTREBET SUPERVIC+ 0-62 HANDICAP - 2000 metres:
The explanation of trainer Mr B Jenkins for his late rider (I Gundogdu) for Whitbread Lass was accepted.
Stargrayz underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and was passed suitable to race.
Brochette (NZ) was marginally slow to begin.
Kipsiro pulled hard in the early and middle stages.
For some distance rounding the home turn Black Ninja (NZ) was held up.
Jileks Spur had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the straight.
Echelon, which was making ground in the home straight, was held up for some distance passing the 200m behind Maldives, which was weakening, and eventually gained clear running near the 100m.
P Mertens, rider of Kipsiro which performed poorly, stated that the gelding hung out throughout the event and did not handle today’s racing surface. A post race veterinary examination of Kipsiro revealed the gelding had got down on all four bumpers.
