Race 1 – CENTREBET NOW WITH QUADDIES F&M MAIDEN PLATE - 1100 metres:
The start of the race was delayed due to Blackman having to be resaddled behind the barriers.
Spy School was slow to begin (two lengths).
M Allen, rider of Hollywood Hips (fifth placegetter), was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out hands and heels to the line. Stewards were of the view that his actions did not affect the placings.
Race 2 – AUSSIE GROUP ONE SPRINTERS MAKE STALLIONS SV 3YO MAIDEN PLATE - 1300 metres:
Prior to the commencement of the meeting connections advised that Encoded will be ridden mid-field today in an attempt to settle as it has previously over-raced when leading and not finished its race off. Encoded was ridden accordingly.
The start of the race was delayed due to Mykola having to be resaddled behind the barriers.
Gorilla’s Mist had a tendency to over-race in the early and middle stages.
Platinum Panther raced wide without cover.
Approaching the 400m More Please, which was laying out, had to be steadied when crowded for room between Mykola and Encoded due to both horse shifting ground slightly.
Apprentice L Londregan (Network) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, the careless riding being that near the 200m he permitted his mount to shift out when not sufficiently clear of Monaco Lady resulting in that filly having to be checked when tightened for room between Network and Encoded. In laying the charge Stewards acknowledge that there was a slight shift inwards from Encoded at the conclusion of the tightening. L Londregan had his permit to ride in races suspended for a period to commence at midnight July 10 and to expire at midnight July 19, a total of nine race meetings (three city, six country). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account the incident was in the low range and the late contributing shift from Encoded.
Mykola layed outwards under pressure in the straight.
G Boss, rider of Mykola which performed poorly and was eased down in the straight, could offer no explanation. A subsequent veterinary examination of Mykola revealed no abnormalities.
Race 3 – CENTREBET NEW AND IMPROVED ON MOBILE MAIDEN PLATE - 1300 metres:
Mariner (NZ) jumped out at the start and made contact with Luke’s Courage.
Buffalo Hunter commenced awkwardly and lost ground. Buffalo Hunter was then reluctant to race and tailed the field taking no competitive part in the event from the 800m. A post race veterinary examination of Buffalo Hunter revealed the colt had sustained a laceration to its off hind cannon and connections were advised that the colt must compete in an official trial to the satisfaction of Stewards before racing again.
Shot Of Scarlet pulled hard in the early stages and also raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.
Near the 250m Tassie Devil shifted out across the heels of Shot Of Scarlet to obtain clear running and when doing so brushed Morning Stroll (NZ) and became unbalanced.
Star Of Langunyah had some difficulty in obtaining clear running for a short distance near the 200m.
Atbarrakee lost its near fore plate in running.
A Mallyon, rider of Penelope Pussycat, could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance.
G Boss rider of Nihiwatu, which performed slightly below market expectations, stated that in his opinion the gelding had come to the end of its preparation and trainer Mr D O’Sullivan confirmed the gelding would now be going for a spell.
Race 4 – TOORAK TOFF @ ROSEMONT F&M 0-58 HANDICAP - 1200 metres:
Sisula layed inwards in the straight.
Teshi Tallarah lost its near hind plate in running.
Race 5 – CENTREBET DON’T JUST WATCH IT 0-58 HANDICAP - 2100 metres:
Prior to the start of the race connections advised that they would attempt to ride Etoile Rouge more forward today. Etoile Rouge settled in a position just forward of mid-field.
Jockey Jack commenced awkwardly.
Passing the 1800m Wolf Call, which was over-racing, had to be checked when racing close to the heels of Alfiler (NZ) and as a result Wolf Call got its head up and lost ground.
Also passing the 1800m Black Ninja (NZ) and Etoile Rouge were tightened for room to the inside of Golden Jeuney which was taken inwards slightly by Heisman.
Alfiler (NZ) over-raced in the early to middle stages.
G Murphy was questioned regarding his riding of Alfiler (NZ) particularly approaching the home turn. G Murphy stated that he had been caught in two minds whether to improve to the inside or to the outside at that stage. He added that he was reluctant to improve to the inside as he did not wish to be held up behind tiring runners however when he attempted to go to the outside he was unable to do so with Wolf Call improving to his outside. G Murphy added that he was then held up for a short distance before shifting to the inside and finishing the race off well.
A post race veterinary examination of Black Ninja (NZ) revealed no abnormalities.
Race 6 – DANZERO @ ROSEMONT 0-58 HANDICAP - 2100 metres:
Diamond Range was a late withdrawal at 1.20pm on veterinary advice when it injured itself in the float en route to the course.
Near the 1600m Boom Times improved onto the heels of Eumeralla Quest and as a result had to be steadied.
Approaching the 800m Solarco improved onto the heels of Stargrayz and as a result had to be restrained by its rider.
J Mott rider of Stargrayz, which performed below market expectations, could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance.
Race 7 – GREAT LOOKING, GREAT VALUE TOORAK TOFF F&M 0-68 HANDICAP - 1900 metres:
Prior to Race 6 connections advised that Brochette (NZ) would be ridden forward today. Brochette (NZ) settled outside the leader.

Race 8 – ROSEMONT STUD BM72 HANDICAP - 1100 metres:
Guru Bay (NZ) was slow to begin (three lengths).

Shortly after the start Nostoppinthemusic and Rockabee Miss were both crowded for room between Street Crier and De La Laq which shifted out.
Near the 1100m Jimmy Shiraz had to be steadied when crowded to the inside of Orbicat which shifted in and away from Street Crier which also shifted in.
Rounding the latter part of the home turn and the early part of the straight Orbicat was disappointed for clear running until passing the 200m.
A post race veterinary examination of Special Credit, which was eased down in the straight, revealed no abnormality.
J Mott rider of Windsor Edition (third placegetter) advised at scales that the gelding was slightly disappointing. A post race veterinary examination of Windsor Edition revealed no abnormality.
