On the latter part of the home turn Royal Beluga was held up when unable to improve its position.
Near the 200m I’ve Got Moves On had to be steadied when tightened by Besame which shifted in when laying in.
Glenaroua layed in in the straight resulting in its rider, A Mallyon, being unable to ride the filly out in his normal manner.
B Melham, rider of Miss Pussigato which performed poorly, could offer no reasons for the filly’s performance other than it raced wide without cover. A veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
After the running of the race the RVL veterinary surgeon reported that Fly She Can was lame in the off fore leg and connections were advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness is required prior to Fly She Can races again.

Shot Of Scarlet was held up rounding the home turn and then had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the straight.
When questioned regarding his tactics aboard Talk Show today, particularly as to why he circled the field from the 800m, C Newitt explained that he had been given no specific instructions other than Talk Show is one paced and to let the gelding settle where it was comfortable. C Newitt stated that on jumping away Talk Show threw its head in the air hitting him in the face and he was then further back than anticipated. C Newitt added that he intended to improve gradually from the 800m however the gelding took charge when he asked it to improve at that point and, bearing in mind that it is a one pacer, he elected to keep the gelding rolling.
After the running of the race C Newitt was examined by the Club’s doctor and stood down from fulfilling his remaining engagements.
