On jumping away, Hirad shifted in abruptl, resulting in To Infinity being severely hampered and losing ground.
In the early and middle stages, Hirad got its head up when over-racing.
For most of the event, Purple Storm raced three wide without cover.
In the early part of the straight, Handsome Frank layed in and near the 200m had to be checked and shifted out to avoid tightening to Tully Dayo.
When under pressure from passing the 200m, Hirad layed in.
D Smith, rider of Hirad, stated that the gelding raced greenly and the saddle shifted back during the race.
Race 2 – BRISEIS CLUB MAIDEN PLATE - 1200 metres:
B Rawiller was fined $200 for failing to fulfil his engagement on Fourdays Of Mylife due to being overweight.
The start of the race was delayed slightly due to Astacca Cash proving difficult to load. Trainer Ms K Durden was advised that before the gelding would be permitted to start again it must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards at a jump out.
Genuine Love was slow to begin.
On jumping away, Spirited Miss shifted out abruptly and tightened Oerter out onto Captain Titanium, resulting in both of those horses being hampered.
Near the 1000m, Captain Titanium, which was badly over-racing, was checked from the heels of Fourdays Of Mylife (C Newitt), which shifted in when not quite clear. C Newitt was advised to exercise more care.
In the early stages, Astacca Cash over-raced with its head up.
Near the 800m, Captain Titanium, which was continuing to over-race, was steadied and shifted out when racing close to the heels of Fourdays Of Mylife. As a result, some inconvenience was caused to Commander Bond.
Passing the 600m, Spirited Miss was checked and made contact with the hindquarters of Cousin Andy turning that horse sideways, when tightened by Royal Amati (C Schofield), which rolled out. As a consequence, interference was caused to Genuine Love and Astacca Cash. After considering all the circumstances and the evidence of D Moor that Spirited Miss had over-reacted when being checked, it was decided that a severe reprimand should be recorded against apprentice C Schofield.
Near the 200m, Nakata was eased and became unbalanced when tightened onto the heels of Turf’s Pride, which was giving ground, by Royal Amati (C Schofield) which shifted to the inside of Fourdays Of Mylife. In all the circumstances, C Schofield was severely reprimanded.
Race 3 – THE SPORTING GLOBE MAIDEN PLATE - 2200 metres:
Rounding the home turn and until near the 200m, In Full Cry was held up when unable to obtain a clear run.
Approaching the 200m, Crust was hampered when tightened for room between Abelardo Brom, which shifted in slightly and Archon, which shifted out under pressure before being straightened by its rider, J Mott.
Passing the 200m, Jimmy’s Better shifted in under pressure and brushed Striped Cat. Jimmy’s Better then shifted in abruptly taking Striped Cat in off its course before being quickly straightened by its rider, M Zahra. Although the interference involved horses placed first and second in the race, given the margin between those two horses at the end of the event, Stewards were of the view that any interference caused did not have any bearing on the result of the race.
Race 4 – BC3 THOROUGHBREDS F&M MAIDEN PLATE - 1000 metres:
Bashiga and Regal’s Angel were slow to begin.
Kid Gloes jumped awkwardly and became momentarily unbalanced.
Big Tilly jumped away awkwardly, shifted in and tightened Mists Of Avalon in onto Make Mine Baileys (NZ), resulting in both of those mares being inconvenienced.
Passing the 600m, Bashiga, which was racing keenly, was steadied from the heels of Abdaan and shifted out, making contact with the hindquarters of Kid Gloves.

Also rounding the home turn and until approaching the 200m, Bashiga was held up for a run.
From straightening until passing the 200m, Mists Of Avalon was held up for a run.
For most of the straight, Big Tilly layed in under pressure.
Over the final 200m, Valcountess had difficulty obtaining clear running.
An inquiry into E Cassar’s riding of Valcountess in the early and middle stages was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
A post race veterinary examination of Valcountess revealed no abnormal findings.
M Payne (Kid Gloves) explained that the filly had been leading its recent races and failed to finish off, however it was decided from the wide gate today to try and ride the horse behind the speed. She said that Kid Gloves left the gates awkwardly and after going several strides, she was of the view if she pressed forward, the filly would have been caught wide without cover. She further said she elected to steady Kid Gloves in an attempt to gain cover, however; she was unable to do so and was obliged to race wide for most of the event. She added that whilst Kid Gloves travelled well in the run, in her view, the filly was disappointing in that it failed to run on in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination of Kid Gloves revealed no abnormalities.
Race 5 – SLICKPIX CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1000 metres:
Prior to correct weight Stewards viewed the film on behalf of connections of Sahara Night (third place) and Zeybek (fourth place), however; were of the view that the interference passing the 100m had not affected the result of the race.
D Moor (Champagne Tales) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137a, in that he permitted his mount to shift out, whilst riding it along, passing the 100m when not clear resulting in Sahara Night being eased and losing its rightful running and Zeybek being severely checked. Stewards also acknowledged that there was a slight shift in from the outside prior to the interference occurring. D Moor’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence at midnight September 18 and to expire at midnight September 29, a total of twelve race meetings (four city, eight country). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account the incident was in the mid-range and D Moor’s good record.
C Robertson, rider of A Night In Honkers, stated that he got further back in the field than intended due to the quick tempo of today’s race.
A post race veterinary examination of Poitier revealed no abnormal findings.
Race 6 – SEVENTH REASON @ JUBILEE STUD SHOWCASE BM72 HANDICAP - 2000 metres:
Chaparral Lass (NZ) was slow to begin.
Approaching the 1600m, Cry In Awe and Chaparral Lass (NZ) raced tight for a short distance when Cry In Awe (M Rodd) was shifting to the outside of Pelikaan Straat. M Rodd was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care.
For some distance passing the 1600m, Pelikaan Straat over-raced.
C Schofield (Pelikaan Straat) was reprimanded for using his whip forehand, seven times prior to the 100m, which is two times more than permitted.
An inquiry was adjourned into the reason for the apparent late rider declaration for Apres.
Race 7 – EMSLEY LODGE 0-58 HANDICAP - 1300 metres:
Trainer Mr A Dillon was fined $200 for failing to produce the identification card for Tayla Lee which, was having its first start in Victoria.
On leaving the gates, Neptune Express (NZ) and Fille De Choix were badly hampered when tightened between Fancy Clancy, which shifted in and Chats Girl, which shifted out away from Sheeza Cheesle.
In the early stages, Minute By Minute raced wide without cover before being allowed to stride and take up a position behind the leaders with cover.
Rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight, Insurpassable was held up when unable to obtain a clear run. Insurpassable then had to be checked approaching the 200m and shifted out to avoid the heels of Crozzle and then obtained clear running.
Passing the 400m, Fancy Clancy became unbalanced after being eased when Tayla Lee (L Currie) shifted out when not clear. In all the circumstances L Currie was severely reprimanded and advised he must give all runners sufficient clearance when shifting ground.
When under pressure after the 300m, Sheeza Cheesle layed out and proved difficult to ride.
J Mott (Fille De Choix) stated that after being severely hampered at the start he was obliged to race wide for most of the event. A post race veterinary examination of Fille De Choix revealed no abnormal findings.
G Murphy, rider of Crozzle which performed below market expectations, could offer no explanation for the mare’s performance today. A post race veterinary examination of Crozzle did not reveal any obvious no findings.
Race 8 – FIRE UP CENTREBET SUPER VIC+ SHOWCASE 0-68 HANDICAP - 1200 metres:
For a short distance near the 800m, Ripleys raced tight between Roman Eye and Rose Pattern (C Schofield), which was shifting in. C Schofield was advised to exercise more care.
For most of the event, Triple Tease and Showabitofheart raced wide without cover.
C Schofield (Rose Pattern) explained that the mare, which was first up from a spell and racing with blinkers for the first time, jumped well and as a consequence, he allowed the horse to stride rather than restrain and take up its normal racing position.
