GERARD Gilmour was cleared of structural damage after a fall today in the in the Callaghan Motors Maiden Hurdle.
Gilmour was taken to Warrnambool Hospital complaining of back soreness after his mount Lake Eerieknuckled and dislodged him, but subsequent x-rays came back all clear.
It’s expected that Gilmour will be discharged from Hospital later in the day.
Racing Victoria deputy chairman of stewards Rob Montgomery said Gilmour appeared to be kicked by a horse after he was catapulted from the saddle.
Love Or Gold, the $2.50 favourite, lived up to his good schooling to post a one and three-quarter length win from Jooli Lad, $8.50, with two and a half lengths to Encosta Rica, $51, third.
While Love Or Gold had been competitive on the flat, co-trainer Symon Wilde said the five-year-old had taken to jumping.
Former Irish jockey Shane Jackson described Love Or Gold as “game and the toughest little horse you would sit on”.
“He jumped a treat for a horse having his first start over the jumps,” Jackson said.
