Other Comments / Explanations:
Due to the transferred race venue from Sandown to Kilmore there was a number of distance changes as described in the headings below.
Race 1 – TMB PRINTING HANDICAP - 1100 metres: (previously 1000 metres)
L. Oliver trainer of Diazling which had a throat operation after its previous campaign, was notified of his obligations under the rules to inform the Stewards of any significant changes that may affect the performance of any horse in his care.
Near the 200 metres Bartonelle which had shifted out slightly, was then hampered when having to be checked to avoid the heels of Johannapine(B. Rawiller) which shifted in before being straightened by its rider. B. Rawiller was severely reprimanded for carelessness, in failing to straighten his mount sooner than he did on this occasion.
D. Lane rider of Shiny And New which was disappointing, advised that in his view the mare had difficulty running out the 1100 metres in heavy going.
Race 2 – CATANACH’S JEWELLERS HANDICAP - 1450 metres: (previously1400 metres)
C. Newitt rider of Bec Said No Credit, 4 placegetter, advised that the filly failed to run-on today and connections had advised that she will be spelled.
C. Symons rider of Yocto advised that the gelding was disappointing but he could offer no explanation . A subsequent veterinary examination revealed the gelding had an elevated heart rate and was suffering from the onset of a respiratory condition. Trainers M. Ellerton and M. Zahra will be notified they must be in receipt of a Veterinary Certificate for Yocto prior to racing again.
Race 3 – ASCEND SALES HANDICAP - 1600 metres:
On arrival at the barrier Delighted Owners, which had a small wound to the off hind coronet, was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed suitable to race.
J. Duffy rider of Ladramahs which was disappointing could offer no explanation for the geldings performance. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. S. Nichols trainer of Ladramahs advised that the gelding had raced like a tired horse and would now be spelled.
Race 4 – SPORTINGBET HANDICAP - 1200 metres: (previously 1300 metres)
King Of Gondor jumped awkwardly and was then show into stride.
L. Nolen rider of Grenada Road which was first up from a spell, advised in his view the mare would be improved over more ground.
Race 5 – LE PINE FUNERALS HANDICAP - 1450 metres: (previously 1400 metres)
After being placed in its starting stall Rollerball kicked out and damaged the rear gate. Rollerball was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed suitable to run. As the gate was irrepairable, Rollerball and the two runners drawn inside that gelding were moved in one barrier stall.
Rollerball was slow to begin (1 length).
Eleuther raced wide without cover.
Passing the 600 metres Eleuther shifted in slightly and made contact with Fierce Command, which then shifted in and made contact with French Tang, As a result Fierce Command and French Tang became unbalanced for several strides.
B. Rawiller rider of Cliques which was unplaced advised that he was instructed to ride the filly with cover but due to little early pace he was caught further back than anticipated when positioned behind Fierce Command and that from the 700 metres the filly hung out. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
P. Mertens rider of Fierce Command which ran unplaced and was disappointing, advised that he could offer no explanation other than the colt blew heavily on return to scale. R. Besanko trainer, advised he could offer no explanation and was disappointed after having supported the horse to win, given that Fierce Command had worked well in the week prior to todays race. A subsequent Veterinary examination revealed the colt had a slower than normal recovery rate with an elevated heart rate.
Race 6 – KEL CHAPMAN MEMORIAL HANDICAP - 1450 metres: (previously 1400 metres)
J. Clifford trainer of Yule Luvit was fined $50 for failing to present the mare to race with bandages when Tule Luvit is approved to do so.
Galway Gal had a tendency to over-race in the early and middle stages.
J. Rule rider of Galway Gal was fined $300 under the provisions of Ar137A(5)(a)(ii) for using his whip in a forehand manner on seven occasions prior to the 100 metres.
D. Gauci rider of Gracious Babe which ran unplaced after weakening in the straight, could offer no explanation for the mare’s performance. S. Fliedner trainer advised that the mare may have been a little under-done on the heavy track today after having not raced since 13 June. A subsequent veterinary examination of Gracious Babe revealed no abnormalities.

MOONEE VALLEY RACING CLUB @ Caulfield

Race 3 L F SIGNS HANDICAP – 1200 metres
Trainer M. Williams reported to stewards that PYRNEES EXSSPRESS had pulled up well followinbg his disappointing run at Caulfield it is now the stables intention to spell the mare for approximately 6 weeks
Race 5 - DOMINANT HANDICAP – 1200 metres:
Stable representative for Mick Price reported to stewards that ROSES IN THE GLENB has pulled up well following her disappointing run at Caulfield however stated that the filly needs a break from racing and will not be sent for a spell.
Race 8 - THINK BIG STUD HANDICAP – 1200 metres
Co-trainer David Briodeoake reported to stewards that JUGAHLATION has pulled up well following his disappointing run at Caulfield. It is the stables intention to continue on with the geldings preparation.
