Race 1ELIZA DRYCLEANERS PLATE - 1227 metres: 

D Nikolic was warned about his failure to arrive on course by the prescribed time (LR47D), for his ride in this race. He was advised that more direct action may be taken should he breach the rule again.

J Warren, trainer of Sportscaster, which was reluctant to go to the start, was advised that a warning was recorded against the gelding for its manners today.

Wairu River (NZ) and Miss Matera began awkwardly.

Near the 1000 metres, Officer Dibble and Miss Matera were momentarily tightened by Hackles, which was shifting in.

For most of the event Wairu River (NZ) raced wide without cover and hung out.

Rounding the home turn, Sinhala lay out.

Race 2BROWNS SAWDUST & SHAVINGS PLATE - 1532 metres: 

On leaving the gates, Bah Hum Bug was bumped by Waronted, which shifted out.

Grey Chloe was slow into stride.

Approaching the 1200 metres, Parvenu (NZ), which was over racing, jumped the crossing. For some distance after this, Parvenu (NZ) continued to over race.

For a considerable distance passing the 1200 metres, Deepwell Station over raced badly.

For most of the event, First Deck raced wide without cover.

A post race veterinary examination of Parvenu (NZ), which commenced to tire on straightening, did not reveal any obvious abnormality.

Race 3MUSK CREEK FARM SHOWCASE HANDICAP - 1532 metres: 

When the start was affected, Scenic Find refused to leave the gates and took no part in the event. Trainer L Xuereb was advised that before being permitted to race again, Scenic Find must perform to the satisfaction of Stewards in a jump out.

For some distance passing the 1000 metres, Jazz King, which was racing keenly, was awkward when tight between Darlimurla Star and Kingdom Of War.

From passing the 1200 metres, On Tour raced wide without cover.

D Oliver (Jazz King) reported that the gelding failed to handle today’s heavy track conditions. 

D Gauci, rider of Buddy Oath, which performed below market expectations, reported that the gelding was inclined to lay out in the run and may not have handled today’s heavy track conditions. A post race veterinary examination did not reveal any obvious abnormality.

Race 4MORNINGTON PENINSULA DENTAL CLINIC HANDICAP - 2050 metres: 

When the start was affected, Itsanothafivehundi (NZ) was very slow to leave the gates, losing considerable ground (10 lengths). Trainer B Stanaway was advised that before being permitted to race again, Itsanothafivehundi (NZ)   must perform to the satisfaction of Stewards in a jump out.

Near the 1800 metres, Kempside was eased when awkward between Viminx, which rolled out slightly and Theadmiralreturns, which shifted in away from Mr Trim (NZ).

On several occasions passing the 1800 metres, Sir Tristaclang shifted in and bumped East Verses West.

Approaching the 1700 metres, Padraq got its head up when racing close to the heels of Mr Trim (NZ), which momentarily rolled out.

Near the 150 metres, Theadmiralreurns was shifted to the outside of Viminx.

A post race veterinary examination of Padrao, which performed below market expectations, did not reveal any obvious abnormality.

Race 5MORNINGTON CAR & TYRE SERVICES HANDICAP - 1532 metres: 

Rubazi was very slow to leave the gates (4 lengths). Trainer S Smillie was advised that a warning was recorded against the gelding for its manners today.

Tellan Dave (NZ) was slow into stride.

When being steadied from the heels of Mulga Chief making the turn near the 600m, King Triton shifted out and was eased from the heels of Dream Spinner.

J Todd (Tellan Dave NZ) was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the end of the race, whenever possible.

J Fry, rider of Fine Wine (NZ), which performed below market expectations, reported that his mount did not handle today’s heavy track conditions. A post race veterinary examination did not reveal any obvious abnormality.

D Gauci (Anotherexcuse NZ) reported that, in his opinion, the gelding failed to handle today’s heavy track conditions.

A post race veterinary examination of Torahka, which was displaying blood in its mouth after the race, did not reveal any abnormality other than a small laceration to the gum.

Race 6BROWNS SAWDUST & SHAVINGS SHOWCASE HANDICAP - 2450 metres: 

Approaching the 200 metres, Danzoya was momentarily inconvenienced when Moxie Air (NZ) shifted out.

N Nikolic (Moxie Air NZ) reported that his mount travelled well in the run, however; being one paced, was disappointing when it failed to respond to his riding in the home straight.

C Symons said of Star Pirate, which weakened to be placed last, that the gelding did not feel comfortable in its action. A subsequent veterinary examination did not reveal any obvious abnormality.

C Newitt said of Shoshonee, which was under pressure from the 800 metres, that the mare raced a like a tired horse. Trainer D Curran advised that Shoshonee will now be spelled.

Race 7PRECISION HEALTH SHOWCASE HANDICAP - 1227 metres: 

Virenque and Mr Keith were slow to begin.

In the middle stages, Turkish Slippers raced keenly.

Passing the 500 metres, Tailorman (NZ) shifted out taking Guffaw out, which then bumped Virenque.

L Coffey (Turkish Slippers) was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift out passing the 200 metres when not clear, resulting in Tailorman (NZ), which was commencing to tire and lay in,  shifting in across the heels of Turkish Slippers and hampering Fermino Courage.

D Oliver (Tallica) reported that, in his opinion, his mount did not handle today’s heavy track condition. A subsequent veterinary examination did not reveal any obvious abnormality.

D Stackhouse (Mighty Serene), reported that, in his opinion, his mount did not handle today’s heavy track condition. A subsequent veterinary examination did not reveal any obvious abnormality.
