J. Cartwright was fined $50 for failing to produce his winning rides book
Race 1 – HANGING ROCK WINERY MAIDEN PLATE - 1112 metres:
When the gates opened Cool Choice stood flatfooted and lost considerable ground. A stable representative of D. Hayes was advised that prior to the filly racing again it must officially trial to the Stewards satisfaction.
On jumping away Drunken Master was tightened for room between Acadian and Our Supearlative, which jumped in.
Shortly after the start Rogue Force shifted in abruptly and took Our Supearlative in on to Drunken Master hampering both those horses. C. Robertson rider of Rogue Force was notified to exercise more care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
For the majority of the race Just Do Something and Our Supearlative raced wide without cover.
Approaching the winning post Drunken Master was hampered when tightened for room between Belle Radiance, which initially shifted out and Cool Choice which shifted in.
Over the concluding stages Commander Bunny was inconvenienced when Dreaming The Dream shifted in, when laying in.
Race 2 – BLUE RIBBON DAY F & M 0-62 HANDICAP - 1469 metres:
Prior to correct weight J. Duffy rider of Mon Coeur 5 placegetter requested to view the official photo finish image for 4 placing, before agreeing with the judges decision.
Orianthi jumped away awkwardly and got its head up in the early stages.
Throughout the race Lovernotafighter raced wide without cover.
Near the 1200 metres Miss Bec which had initially been taken out by Delosi shifted back in when not fully clear of This Time Lord, which was over-racing and had to be checked. D. Yendall rider of Miss Bec was notified that he must exercise far greater care when in shifting ground in similar circumstances.
In the middle stages Delosi commenced to over-race and as a result the saddle shifted forward passing the 1000 metres, thereby placing J. Noonan rider of the mare at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race.
In the straight when placed under pressure Just Grand had a tendency to lay in.
C. Newitt rider of This Time Lord could offer no explanation for the poor performance of the mare today, other than when put under pressure she failed to respond to his riding. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
When questioned J. Duffy rider of Mon Coeur explained that approaching the 100 metres he stopped riding his mount as he believed he would get tightened for room between Delosi and Phase Angle, which was taken in slightly by Lovernotafighter.
Race 3 – CENTRE STATE ASPHALTING MAIDEN PLATE - 1469 metres:
After the majority of the horses had been loaded into the barriers, Correct Change cast a plate. As a result all horses were removed from the barriers while the Farrier attended to Correct Change. Due to this the start of the race was delayed.
Footprint jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and brushed Principaled. Footprint was then inconvenienced when tightened between Principaled and Boy’s Brother, which shifted out.
On jumping away Caramel and Royal Prussia came together due to both horses shifting ground.
Passing the 1200 metres Caramel had to be eased to avoid the heels of Royal Prussia which was being restrained.
Approaching the 1000 metres His Royal Tea had to be eased when tightened for room by Boy’s Wonder, which was taken in by Footprint which shifted in before being straightened by its rider, G. Boss.
Near the 700 metres Correct Change lost its near hind plate.
Approaching and rounding the home turn His Royal Tea was held up for a clear run.
Rounding the home turn Principaled was held up for a clear run.
Over the concluding stages His Royal Tea was held up for a clear run behind Correct Change, which had shifted in whilst under pressure.
Also over the concluding stages Caramel which had a tendency to lay in, then shifted in abruptly when under pressure.
C. Newitt rider of Correct Change 5 placegetter, pleaded guilty to a charge of AR137(b) in that he failed to ride the gelding out to the end of the race. C. Newitt was fined the sum of $500. In assessing penalty Stewards considering that his action had affected the result of the race, given the nose margin and his guilty plea and record.
C. Robertson rider of Royal Prussia which was eased down in the straight explained that the mare was disappointing in its efforts today, however on return to scale felt fine in its action.
G. Boss rider of Footprint which performed below market expectations explained that the filly did not respond to his riding when placed under pressure and was disappointing in its efforts today. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A post race swab was taken for analysis.
When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on His Royal Tea, which had been racing in a forward position at its most recent start, I. Gundogdu explained that he was instructed from the wide barrier to find cover but did not intend to settle as far back as he did. When questioned B. Jenkins trainer of His Royal Tea advised that he did not want I. Gundogdu to lead from the wide barrier but did not give him any specific instructions. B. Jenkins was notified of his obligations to notify Stewards of any significant tactic change.
Race 4 – PIPER STREET HOTEL MAIDEN PLATE - 1875 metres:
Lewek jumped away awkwardly and was then slow to muster early speed and as a result lost ground.
On jumping away King Manu shifted out and bumped One More Beer.
Approaching the 1400 metres Eyeforit became tightened for room between One More Beer and Longlea Lad (J. Cartwright) which shifted in when not clear. J. Cartwright was issued with a reprimand and notified he must ensure he is clear of other runners when shifting ground.
On the home turn In Full Cry had to be eased when disappointed for a run between Longlea Lad and Frank The Ripper, where there was insufficient room
Passing the 200 metres Epic Choice was inconvenienced by Emperor’s Folly, which shifted in whilst laying in under pressure.
B. Knobel rider of Priceless Mate explained that the gelding made an abnormal noise during the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
G. Boss rider of Epic Choice explained that after jumping well and with no early pace, his mount took up a forward position. He further added that the colt was disappointing in its efforts over the concluding stages.
Race 5 – NMIT 0-68 HANDICAP - 1112 metres:
Correct weight was delayed as G. Boss rider of Taffetas and B. Rawiller rider of Hill Of Faith equal 1 placegetters, wished to view the official photo finish image. After viewing the image both riders agreed with the judge’s decision.
Stately Dash under RVL policy underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed suitable to race.
Hill Of Faith was a little slow to begin and then shortly after the start had to be eased when tightened for room between Power Plant and Taffetas, which was shifting ground.
Taffetas had a tendency to over-race in the early stages.
For the majority of the race Stately Dash raced wide without cover.
Rounding the home turn J. Winks rider of Sort This Out dropped his whip.
Rounding the home turn and in the straight until passing the 200 metres Hill Of Faith was held up when unable to obtain a clear run.
At the 100 metres Blazing Gilbert which was laying in, had to be eased off the heels of Hill Of Faith, which shifted out slightly.
Race 6 – SPORTSBET.COM.AU PROTEST PAYOUT BM72 HANDICAP - 1469 metres:
On jumping away Sambora struck the side of the barrier stall unbalancing J. Keating its rider.
Northern Jet knuckled on jumping away.
Approaching the 1200 metres Chilly Reception had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Spatha which shifted in when not clear. P. Keane rider of Spatha was issued with a severe reprimand for permitting his mount to shift in and notified he would be expected to make a far greater care to prevent his mount from shifting in when in similar circumstances.
Near the 500 metres Our Poeticprincess had to be eased off the heels of Turn Of Faith when disappointed for a run between that gelding and Northern Jet, which was improving to the outside of Our Poeticprincess.
Passing the 400 metres Turn Of Faith shifted out forcing Our Poeticprincess wider on the track.
Near the 150 metres Sambora shifted out under pressure and brushed the hindquarters of Spatha, which shifted in slightly. Sambora then shifted in and inconvenienced Blaze Adrift.
S. King rider of Northern Jet explained that the gelding raced further back today after knuckling at the start. He further explained that he had to ride his mount along earlier than he would have liked and for this reason the gelding failed to run on in the straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of Henshaw, M Cerchi the trainer of the horse, stated that Henshaw was only having its second start for him and that he expected an improved performance today.
Race 7 – NATIONAL PATIENT TRANSPORT RISING STARS 0-58 HANDICAP - 1200 metres:
After being placed in the barriers Bold Script reared and became cast. Royal Gaze which was in the adjacent stall to Bold Script, when being backed out became loose and ran into the running rail. Bold Script and Royal Gaze were both examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon and deemed unfit to run. Acting on this, Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Bold Script and Royal Gaze at 4.18 p.m. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 4.18 p.m.

Mr. M. Houlahan trainer of Bold Script was notified prior to the gelding racing again it must trial in an official trial to the Stewards satisfaction. D. Thornton rider of Bold Script who had injured his ankle in this incident was examined by the Club Doctor. D. Thornton was advised he must produce a Medical Certificate prior to riding again.
On jumping away La Deen shifted in and hampered Fermino Courage.
At the 1000 metres A Night In Honkers had to be checked to avoid the heels of Billy Of Chicago, which was shifting in. A Night In Honkers then shifted in and tightened Our Final Snip in on to La Deen, which was bumped on the hindquarters and as a result Our Final Snip had to be checked.
On straightening Act Of Faith was disappointed for a run between Billy Of Chicago and Top Classic both of which shifted ground.
Act Of Faith had difficulty in obtaining a clear run until approaching the 100 metres.
J. Duffy rider of Watasham explained that his mount had a tendency to hang out rounding the home turn and was reluctant to take a run to the inside of Henia in the early part of the straight and again over the concluding stages.
Race 8 – WWW. RACINGNETWORK.COM.AU 0-62 HANDICAP - 1875 metres:
Mulga Chief which had won on Saturday 22 September, 2012 at Pakenham at 1770 metres 0-62 handicap received a 2 1/2 kg penalty.
R. Plumb’s explanation for not being able to make the weight on Universal Rose, was accepted.
S. Theodore trainer of Edge Of Time advised that with circumstances permitting it would be their intention to have the gelding ridden in a forward position as it has trialled well recently when ridden forward. Edge Of Time raced in a handy position early but caught wide and as a result strode forward after turning out of the straight to settle outside the leader near the 1200 metres.
Turning out of the straight Before You Think got its head up and had to be checked to avoid the heels of Universal Rose, which had shifted in.
Passing the 600 metres Mulga Chief had to be checked off the heels of Before You Think. Mulga Chief was then held up for clear running until approaching the 300 metres at which point the gelding again had to check to avoid the heels of Rishima, which was weakening.
Before You Think was held up for clear running, rounding the home turn.
Approaching the 200 metres Highway Princess had difficulty obtaining a clear run.
Near the 150 metres Mulga Chief was tightened for room between Before You Think and Hausratte, which shifted in when laying in under pressure, before being straightened by its rider.
Over the concluding stages J. Hill rider of Universal Rose dropped his offside rein.
J. Todd rider of Redjoe which was eased down over the concluding stages could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance, however was a beaten horse rounding the home turn. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
