Other Comments / Explanations:

Race 1 – HANGING ROCK WINERY MAIDEN PLATE - 1100 metres: 

On arrival at the barriers Swoosh was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who passed the mare fit to start.

At the start Heza Bit Hissy and Master Dee Art both jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

Shortly after the start Silver Supreme had to be steadied when tightened for room by Lenguita which shifted in.

In the early and middle stages Heza Bit Hissy raced wide without cover.   Heza Bit Hissy also raced very ungenerously for the majority of the race.

In the early and middle stages Dunenormous over-raced and near the 800 metres Dunenormous which continued to over-race, shifted out to avoid the heels of Chacella.

Rounding the home turn Dunenormous hung out.

Approaching the 200 metres Swoosh shifted out under pressure and took Silver Supreme out o to Donarchie resulting in Silver Supreme and Donarchie brushing.

After passing the 200 metres Lenguita shifted out to improve and in doing so bumped Chacella.

M. Walker rider of Donarchie , the winner, was reminded celebratory gestures are not permitted in Victoria prior to the winning post.

B.Melham rider of Swoosh which performed below market expectations explained that the mare did not respond to his riding as he had anticipated in the straight and was disappointing in his opinion.   A subsequent Veterinary examination revealed the mare had a slower than normal recovery.

Race 2 -  SOUTHERN CROSS OFFICE EQUIPMENT SV 3YO MAIDEN PLATE - 1200 metres: 

On jumping away Captain Angry and Bellesconi were both tightened for room between Rocky Realm which jumped away awkwardly and shifted out and Zombie Dancer, which shifted in slightly. Due to this tightening Bellasconi waa hampered and Captain Angry had to be severely checked and lost considerable ground.

In the early stages Noble Star over-race and raced greenly getting its head up on numerous occasions.

Raktangle was obliged to race wide without cover for the majority of the race.

Approaching the 800 metres Noble Star which had continued to over-race got its head up when being steadied off the heels of Our Swagman (C. Robertson) which when racing greenly, shifted in.   C. Robertson was notified when in similar circumstances he is to do his utmost to protect his fellow riders.

Prior to the home turn Captain Angry was momentarily held up for clear running.

Prior to and rounding the home turn Sweet Grace had a tendency to lay out.

In the straight Raktangle had a tendency to lay in.

For the majority of the straight Wicked Enchantress raced in restricted room and had some difficulty obtaining clear running.

B. Melham rider of Sweet Grace which performed poorly could offer no explanation for the geldings performance today.   B. Melham added he had recommended to the stable that blinkers be applied to the mare.   A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Race 3 – J & S AIR-CONDITIONING MAIDEN PLATE - 1450 metres: 

At the start Parfume De Belle and Assembly both jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

Approaching the crossing near the 1300 metres Ash For Cash had to be eased to avoid the heels of Parfume De Belle (L.Londregan) which shifted in when not sufficiently clear.   Also at this stage Celtic Jazz commenced to race very ungenerously, got its head up, shifted out and as a result lost considerable ground.   When shifting out Celtic Jazz hampered Ash For Cash which had to be steadied as a result.

Approaching the turn near the 1300 metres Garder La Foi which had been steadied to obtain cover, then got its head up and commenced to hang out and as a result Garder La Foi lost ground and took Commander Bond out off its course.

Near the 1000 metres Parfume De Belle shifted out to avoid the heels of Luis Le Fly when the pace slackened slightly.

Parfume De Belle was obliged to race wide for the majority of the race.

Prior to the home turn Garder La Foi was held up for a clear run, then shifted to the outside of Lionpower to obtain clear running.  Shortly after this Garder La Foi was again held up for a clear run behind Luis Le Fly before shifting to the outside of that gelding and obtaining a clear run inside the 200 metres.

In the straight Parfume De Belle laid in under pressure.

Approaching the 100 metres Luis Le Fly hung in before being straightened by its rider.

N. Stanley rider of Celtic Jazz explained he eased the mare down in the straight as he felt there was something amiss with the mare’s action.   A subsequent veterinary examination revealed the mare was suffering from respiratory distress.  N. Dyer the mare’s trainer was notified that prior to being permitted to start again he must be in receipt of a Veterinary Certificate of Soundness which contains the results of a satisfactory endoscopic examination.

Race 4 – MIDLAND IRRIGATION 0-62 HANDICAP  - 1200 metres: 

On arrival on course Beluga Gold which had pulled up shin sore at its previous start, was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to start.

At the start Constant Rhythm jumped away awkwardly, shifted in and tightened Give Me Faith.

Also at the start Marmaduke Jinx shifted in and made contact with Doohan unbalancing that gelding, and Beaumaris was marginally slow to jump away.

In the early stages Gypsy’s Best over-raced.

Beluga Gold was obliged to race wide without cover throughout.

For the majority of the race Gypsy’s Best was obliged to race wide without cover.

D. Lane rider of Skitty Kitty explained on scales he felt there was something amiss with the mare’s action over the concluding stages.   A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Race 5 – SPICER THOROUGHBREDS BM72 HANDICAP  - 1450 metres: 

Rounding the first turn near the 1200 metres On The Cards hung out.

Prior to and rounding the home turn Spatha laid out.

In the straight Viscera had a tendency to lay in under pressure.

Approaching the 100 metres Trapunto when improving, had to shift out to avoid the heels of Spatha, which was giving gound.

R. Maloney rider of Spatha which had performed below market expectations, explained that the gelding over-raced in the early and middle stages and in his opinion this was detrimental to Spatha finishing its race off today.

Race 6 – KYNETON TOYOTA 0-68 HANDICAP -  1850 metres: 

Acting on a confirmed telephone call from Racing Service Centre who explained that Mr. M. Stein trainer of L’Aubaine had contacted them and notified that the gelding was lame and unfit to start, Stewards ordered the late withdrawal of L’Aubaine at 7.58 a.m.   Mr. Stein will submit the necessary documentation in regards to this scratching.

Beedeekay and Rock Robster were slow to jump away.

Arlington Park jumped away awkwardly.

In the early stages Wild West had a tendency to over-race.

After being caught wide early Kimiko was permitted to stride forward by its rider to obtain a position outside the leader after passing the 1400 metres.    Also Mightier was obliged to race wide before obtaining cover approaching the 800 metres.

From the 600 metres until approaching the 400 metres Hidden Message was held up for clear running. Hidden Message then shifted to the outside of Wild West in an attempt to gain s clear run and then had to be checked when disappointed for a run between that gelding and Mr O’Postrophe where there was insufficient room.   After being checked Hidden Message was then held up for a clear run until near the 100 metres.

Approaching the 400 metres Taratruce and Palos De Lago came together due to both horses shifting ground and as a result both became unbalanced.

Rounding the home turn until approaching the 200 metres Beedeekay was held up when unable to obtain a clear run.

C. Newitt rider of Arlington Park which performed below market expectations explained that the gelding in his opinion, was disappointing and failed to respond to his riding over the concluding stages.   A subsequent veterinary examination revealed suspected upper respiratory abnormalities requiring further investigation and a veterinary certificate is required before the horse is permitted to start again..

Race 7 – NMIT KYNETON CUP - 2000 metres: 

At the start Doctor Fremantle stood flatfooted and as a result lost ground.

Approaching the 1700 metres Doctor Fremantle which after being slow to begin was making ground rapidly and had a tendency to race ungenerously, shifted out to avoid the heels of Budai, which was taken in by Shenzhou Steeds.

Eight Cards and Mr Birchy were both obliged to race wide without cover.   Mr. Birchy obtained cover near the 1200 metres however Eight Cards raced wide for the majority of the race. Also Dark Note was obliged to race wide without cover.

D. Gauci rider of Massoni which compounded over the concluding stages explained that the gelding over-raced in the early and middle stages.   A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

C. Schofield rider of Budai explained that he eased the gelding down over the concluding stages as he felt there was something amiss with Budai.   A subsequent veterinary examination revealed the gelding had a respiratory abnormality which will require further investigation including the results of a scope.   Mr. D. Hayes trainer was notified he must be in receipt of a Veterinary Certificate which must include the satisfactory results of n endoscopic examination prior to racing again.

D. Holland rider of Sister Norma which performed below market expectations explained that he felt there was something amiss with the gelding’s action over the concluding stages.   A subsequent veterinary examination revealed the mare had sustained a cut to the front of the near fore pastern and scrubbed out its near fore bumper.   Sister Norma will not require  Veterinary Certificate.

Eight Cards which performed below market expectations was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon who reported no abnormalities.

Race 8 – SPORTSBET. COM.AU TOP TOTE PLUS SPRINT - 1200 metres: 

On jumping away Produced knuckled.

Also at the start Crawfish shifted in and made heavy contact with Le Bonsir.

Shortly after the start Cross Of Gold which had been slow to begin then had to be checked when tightened for room between Euphoric Realm which shifted in slightly and Dane The Rave which was taken out by She’s Gifted, which in turn was taken out by Ortayga, which shifted out abruptly.   As a result of this incident Dane The Rave was tightened for room.

Euphoric Realm was obliged to race wide without cover.

In the straight Rebel Truce laid in and near the 300 metres had to be steadied off the heels of Rescue Mission.

Also in the straight She’s Gifted laid in under pressure and over the concluding stages shifted in and brushed Produced.

Inside the 100 metres Crawfish had some difficulty obtaining clear running.

D. Lane rider of Redangelo unplaced was fined the sum of $200 for weighing in in excess of 1kg over his declared weight.

M. Walker rider of Le Bonsir which performed below market expectations explained that over the concluding states the gelding did not feel fluent in its action.   A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Race 9 -  PIPER ST HOTEL AFTER PARTY F & M BM72 HANDICAP  - 1100 metres:

At the start Diamond Lady was slow to jump away.

Near the 900 metres Retsina and Shiny And New which was over-racing were tightened for room between Hadronica and Miss Zoom (D. Holland), which when laying in, shifted in before being corrected by its rider.  Stewards whilst accepting that Miss Zoom was laying in, advised the mare’s rider D. Holland that in similar circumstances he would be expected to make a greater effort to protect his fellow riders.

Prior to and rounding the home turn Hadronica hung out.

Rounding the home turn Danish Whiskey was momentarily held up for clear running.

In the straight Danish Whiskey had a tendency to lay in under pressure.

Over the concluding stages Miss Zoom laid out under pressure.

Jockey C. Robertson was fined $200 under the provisions of AR88 in tat on 29/10/12 whilst riding in jump outs at Cranbourne he used spurs of an unimproved nature.

Race 6 – ECKS ELECTRICS & SOLAR 0-68 HANDICAP – 1300 metres:

A representative of trainer D. Weir, explained that Baremin had pulled up well following its disappointing performance at Stawell and that it was the stables intention to continue with Baremin’s preparation as planned.

VICTORIA RACING CLUB DERBY DAY FLEMINGTON

Date – Saturday November 3 1012

Race 6 – AAMI VICTORIA DERBY (GROUP 1) – 2500 metres:

Trainer T. McEvoy reported to stewards that following a scope of Jimando revealed that gelding to have a displaced soft pallet.   The horse will have surgery to correct the abnormality before resuming to racing.

Race 8 -  YELLOWGLEN STAKES (GROUP 2) – 1200 metres:

Con Karakatsanis reported that Howmuchdoyouloveme has torn a muscle high up in the geldings back.   He will continue to work the horse and decide whether he will run in the Patinack Classic later in the week.

Mr. Tim Martin trainer of Pampelonne explained that the gelding had pulled up well following his disappointing performance at Flemington on Saturday 3November 2012.   He further added that in his opinion the gelding was feeling the effects of recent racing and that he may have failed to handle the travel to Melbourne.  Pampelonne will now be spelled.

Mr. Brian Dias trainer of Latin News explained that the stable were unable to detect any abnormalities with Latin News on Sunday following his disappointing performance at Flemington.  Mr. Dian added that Latin News is being transported back to Queensland and will undergo a full veterinary examination upon his return.   Anything further that comes to light which may have affected his performance will be reported to Racing Victoria in due course.

MORNINGTON RACING CLUB

Co trainer Fran Houlahan reported to stewards that Aiglon pulled up well following his disappointing run at Mornington and stated that the gelding did not handle the firm track conditions.  The table intend to press on with the preparation.

Trainer L. Oliver reported to stewards that St James Gate pulled up sore in the knees and has now been sent for a spell.

VICTORIA RACING CLUB FLEMINGTON MELBOURNE CUP DAY

RACE 3 – LAVAZZA LONG BLACK – 2000 metres:

Trainer T. Vasil reported to stewards that Apprehend pulled up well following the disappointing run at Flemington and the stable intend to press on with the geldings campaign.

RACE 5 -  SCHWEPPES TONIC 1000 metres:

Trainer R. Smerdon reported to stewards that Hyperventilate recovered well following the disappointing run at Flemington despite losing a plate during the race this did not affect the filly and the stable intend to press on with the campaign.

RACE 9 -  MSS SECURITY SPRINT  (LISTED) – 1200 metres:

Trainer R. Griffiths reported to stewards, that following the disappointing run from Cascabel, the gelding was scoped revealing a respiratory infection.  The horse will be treated accordingly and the stable will aim to continue with the preparation.
