Racing Victoria's Investigative Committee has announced it will not take any further action against professional punter Mark Hunter and bookmaker Laurie Bricknell concerning the Damien Oliver betting case.

Racing Victoria's Investigative Committee has announced it will not take any further action against professional punter Mark Hunter and bookmaker Laurie Bricknell concerning the Damien Oliver betting case.

Hunter placed the $10,000 bet on Miss Octopussy at Moonee Valley on October 1, 2010 at Damien Oliver’s request.

The bet was then placed with Bricknell, with the winnings passed on to trainer, Robert Smerdon, who is facing separate charges over the matter.

The committee has exercised its discretion in not charging Hunter as a result of his assistance and information provided by him regarding Oliver’s betting activity.

The current charge against Smerdon will be heard by the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board on Thursday, February 7.
