ATC Track Manager, Lindsay Murphy, is not fazed about today’s predicted 41-degree day in Sydney when it comes to preparing tomorrow’s Rosehill Gardens track.
“The track is good at the moment and we’ve put 28mls on this week after we had a storm last Sunday, which was about 6mls for us,” Murphy said this morning.
“We’ve been pumping the water into the track.
"They say there might be a storm around tonight with the possibility of a few showers, so we’ll monitor that,” he added.
Murphy said the grass cover on the track was very good.
“The kikuyu grass is as thick and lush as I’ve ever seen it,” he said.
*In Melbourne, Flemington Track Manager Mick Goodie has also been fronted with extreme weather conditions this week.
“I put 16mls on the track yesterday and that took a lot of water (40-degrees during the day) and I’m very happy with where it’s at right now,” Goodie told racingnetwork.
He said the track was currently rated dead 4 and he expected the track to “race very fairly tomorrow”.
Goodie said he “might” put six or seven mls on tonight, but said it wouldn’t need any more.
“We’ve put 66mls on for the week and the rail will be out nine metres,” he said.
