RYAN Maloney can resume his career-best season as early as next month.
Doctors told Maloney that his wrist that he broke when Beltrois broke a shoulder and fell soon after the winning post at Flemington on December 15 would be right for his to resume riding in the first week of February.
Maloney had the plaster cast replaced by a splint, which he will wear until the end of the month.
Surgeons inserted a couple of pins and a plate in Maloney’s left wrist, which was broken near a joint.
“The doctor said the surgery went well and everything is looking good for me to start back next month,” Maloney said.
“I’m putting the wrist in an ice bath and the doctor said the sooner the swelling goes down the sooner it will heal.”
Maloney was sitting fourth on the jockey’s premiership with 45 winners at the time of the fall.
