Some Chris Waller power on show

By Neale Donnelley TVN Tuesday, January 22, 2013 - 2:50 PM

A small showing of the might of the Chris Waller stable was on show at the Rosehill Gardens barrier trials this morning.

The last of 13 trials saw Waller provide six of the eight runners and the first five home, headed by unraced Lonhro filly A Dream Girl.

Group 1 winner Albert The Fat finished fourth in his trial over 900 metres, beaten about three lengths with quality stayer Permit running fifth in the same heat.

Waller won another trial with an unraced three-year-old called Insuperable, by Pentire, with former Kiwi Tougher Than Ever, now a member of the Waller barn, finishing third.

Tougher Than Ever won the Bonecrucher Stakes and ran third in the New Zealand Guineas before being shifted to Waller.

He has also taken over the training of boom Kiwi three-year-old Sacred Falls, a winner of all of his six starts, including a last start win in the Group 1 New Zealand Guineas.

David Payne’s good three-year-old Honorius ran seventh in the same heat.
