STEVEN King leaves for Singapore after Christmas to begin a six month riding contract in Singapore.
The Melbourne Cup winning jockey begins his freelance stint in Singapore on January 1.
“At this stage of my career it is a challenge that I need,” King said.
“The initial contract is for six months, but if I’m doing well, I’ll seek to stay there, if not I’ll come home.”
King, who partnered Let’s Elope to win the 1992 Melbourne Cup, rode in Melbourne for the last time at Flemington yesterday, where he finished second on Mount Zero in the Christmas Season Plate.
