Exciting Stratum 3YO colt Stralia, has been sold to Hong Kong and will not race in Australia again.
Trainer and senior part-owner Mark Riley told TVN today afternoon the horse was vetted yesterday and today and has been given the all-clear.
Riley would not confirm the price, but it is anticipated a colt of his ability and potential would bring well in excess of $1 million.
“At the end of the day it was just too much money to knock back. It was a lot of money, an awful lot,” Riley said.
Riley paid $140,000 for Stralia at the yearling sales, but he couldn’t sell the horse with the downturn in the economy.
“All I could sell was 25 percent of him and I got left with the rest. At least it shows you can have a big pay day if you trust in your own ability to get the job done,” Riley said.
Fom just three starts, Stralia won twice at Flemington, before being beaten a neck only by the brilliant Snitzerland in last Saturday’s Danehill Stakes.
Riley said next Friday was the scheduled day for payment.
