CHRIS Symons hopes to be back riding in early February.

CHRIS Symons hopes to be back riding in early February.

Symons moved a step closer to his comeback after riding five horses at trackwork yesterday for Greg Eurell at Cranbourne.

Importantly, Symons’ foot that he broke in a bizarre accident when run-over by apprentice Thomas Sadler in the car park of Sale races in late September continues to make good progress.

“My foot is as good as it has been,” Symons said.

“I rode a couple fast work and there wasn’t a problem. I’m confident I’ll be back riding early in February.”

Symons has been cleared to ride in trials and he plans to increase his track work-load to ensure he meets his timeline of resuming riding.

CHRIS Symons next video blog will be posted tomorrow on Racing Network.
