Prior to correct weight A Thompson rider of Littlebitaluck, 4 placegetter, viewed the Stewards patrol film from the 400m before deciding not to lodge an objection.
Correct weight was delayed to allow C Atkinson rider of On Report, unplaced, to view the Stewards patrol film of the start to ascertain whether the gelding had been denied a fair start. After viewing the film and taking evidence from the Starter Mr R McAdam it was determined that the barrier attendant attending On Report had released the gelding prior to the start being effected. Acting on this Stewards deemed that On Report had not been denied a fair start and was deemed to be a runner.
At the start Testawan bounded and No Prior Knowledge was slow to begin.

However, F Alesci further explained that Queen Of Roses jumped away awkwardly and did not muster early speed despite his efforts and for this reason settled further back than he intended. When questioned in regard to the mare’s performance for the remainder of the race F Alesci explained the mare did not respond to his riding as he would have expected especially in the straight and although it passed some tiring runners it was in his opinion disappointing. A subsequent veterinary examination of Queen Of Roses revealed the mare to have a slower than normal recovery rate.
