Race 1winsec savings and loans sv 3yo maiden plate - 1170 metres: 

Stewards permitted N. Souquet, rider of Infinite Fortune, to ride ½kg over his allotted riding weight of 56kg as there was no other senior rider available. Under the provisions of AR145 N. Souquet was fined the sum of $200.

Yuleba, which had been restless in its starting stall, was removed from its barrier stall and examined by the clubs veterinary surgeon who passed the filly fit to start.

Remagen Bridge jumped away awkwardly and as a result lost ground.

Enchanted Boy was slow to jump away.

In the early and middle stages Another Wizard, Flying Stevie and Highway Thirty One all raced greenly.

Remagen Bridge raced wide without cover.

Rounding the home turn Another Wizard hung out.

In the early part of the straight Flying Stevie had a tendency to lay in and race greenly.

Also in the straight Grizzle laid in under pressure.

Approaching the 100m Another Wizard obtained a neat run between Infinite Fortune and Makawao. When obtaining this run Another Wizard brushed the hind quarters of Makawao, unbalancing that gelding.

Approaching the winning post Highway Thirty One had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Grizzle, which shifted out in an attempt to improve its position.

Subsequent to the event Remagen Bridge, which gave ground over the concluding stages, was examined by the clubs veterinary surgeon who reported no abnormalities.

Race 2a&j perkins builders f&m maiden plate - 1170 metres: 

Prior to the first race Mr P. Morgan, co-trainer of St Carlingwood, explained that as the mare had raced very greenly at its first race when racing on the pace his intentions today were to endeavour to have the mare ridden with cover. After jumping away very well and then being caught wide in the early stages St. Carlingwood was permitted to stride forward by its rider to obtain the lead near the 600m.

D. Lane rider of Miss Matera, was dislodged from the filly in the mounting yard. D. Lane was examined by the clubs doctor and passed fit to ride.

At the start Leica Tornado, Here’s Hooping and Perfect Set were all slow to jump away.

Rounding the home turn Here’s Hooping was held up for a clear run.

In the straight St Carlingwood raced greenly and had a tendency to hang out under pressure.

Race 3carlton mid stength maiden plate - 1400 metres:

Correct weight was delayed to enable J. Benbow, rider of Bahir (second place getter), to view the official photo finish image. After viewing the image J. Benbow agreed with the judge’s decision and correct weight was declared.

Shortly after the start Mr Furioson, which had jumped away awkwardly, then had to be checked when tightened for room between Intruding, which shifted out slightly and Musician, which shifted in abruptly.

Near the 1000m, when the pace slackened Musician, Mr Bourke and Intruding all commenced to over race.

Approaching the 800m Primaluna over raced and as a result had to be steadied off the heels of Intruding. When being steadied Primaluna got its head up and race ungenerously for a short distance.

Intruding raced wide without cover.

At the entrance to the straight Tamboon Amber dipped in the going.

In the straight Mr Furioson hung in under pressure.

After passing the 200m Datodragon, which had commenced to improve, then had to change course and shift out the outside of The Reverend when that gelding shifted in under pressure.

Race 4wangaratta cup 3 march maiden plate - 1600 metres:

Mr J. Blacker, trainer of Smoke ‘N’ Whisky, notified the Stewards prior to the first race that it was his intention to have Smoke ‘N’ Whisky ridden back in the field today if possible as the gelding performed very well recently in a barrier trail when being ridden this way.

Dainty Sharnee and Lucky Elvis were marginally slow to begin.

Kachow was extremely slow to jump away and as a result lost considerable ground.

Currayoung raced wide without cover throughout.

L. Smith, rider of Kachow, accidently dropped his whip near the 300m.

J. Kissick, rider of Dainty Sharnee, explained that he momentarily stopped ridding approaching the 100m as he was beginning to suffer from cramping. J. Kisskick was then able to ride Dainty Sharnee out to the end of the race in his normal manner.

C. Parish, rider of Currayoung, which performed below market expectations, could offer no explanation for the mare’s performance today, a subsequent veterinary examination of Currayoung revealed no abnormalities.

Ms B. Sweeney, rider of Prince Calaf, explained that her mount over raced in the early and middle stages.

Subsequent to the event the clubs doctor examined J. Kissick and passed him fit to fulfil his remaining riding engagements.

Race 5richmond v essendon nab cup 2 march 0 - 62 handicap - 1600 metres: 

Near the 1400m Flying Kyle had to be steadied off the heels of Mistaken Grace (R. Beattie), which shifted in when not quiet sufficiently clear. R. Beattie was notified to exercise far greater care when in similar circumstances in the future.

In the early and middle stages Mistaken Grace over raced.

After passing the 600m Smoke ‘N’ Whisky became unbalanced and bounded.

In the straight Eternal Circle hung in under pressure.

J. Benbow rider of Torgannah, which gave ground in the straight, could no explanation for the gelding’s performance today. A subsequent veterinary examination of Torgannah revealed no abnormalities.

N. Souquet, rider of Lord Wolsey, which performed poorly and gave ground quickly in the straight, explained that he felt there was something amiss with the gelding in the straight. The club veterinary surgeon who was attending to other matters was unable to conduct a post race examinanation of Lord Wolsey which  had left the race course by the prescribed time.. Mr G. Egan, trainer of Lord Wolsey, will be contacted to see if any condition had arisen that may have affected the gelding’s performance today.

 

Race 6centrebet 0 - 62 handicap - 1400 metres:

At the start Bel Gold, which had jumped away awkwardly, was then tightened for room and had to be severely checked between Genghis, which shifted in abruptly and Famous By Name (NZ), which was taken out by Eleusinian.

Near the 1000m Famous By Name (NZ) was tightened for room by Warrego Melody, which was taken in by Mercury Seven (C. Treymane), which shifted in before being straightened by its rider. C. Treymane was notified to exercise far greater care when in similar circumstances in the future. During this incident Famous By Name (NZ) made contact with the running rail.

Artie Royale was obliged to race wide without cover for the majority of the race.

Rounding the home turn Famous By Name (NZ) was momentarily held up for clear running.

Near the 300m Heart Of Eternity had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Artie Royale, which shifted out slightly.

D. Moor was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR120(b) for failing to fulfil his riding engagement on Eleusinian today due to being overweight.

Ms S. Hunter rider of Domino Lady was spoken to advisedly in regards to her whip use backhand on the mare.

J. Ledger, Co-trainer of Menchov, was fined the sum of $50 under the provisions of AR140A for presenting the gelding in the mounting yard with incorrect gear.

Race 7sam miranda wines 0 - 68 handicap - 1100 metres:

As the start was affected Miss Beautymate stood flat footed and refused to jump and as a result took no part in the race. Mr N. Webb’s, trainer of the mare’s stable representative, was notified that Miss Beautymate was now suspended from racing until such time as it performs to the satisfaction of Stewards and gains approval to race.

At the start Stella Delargo had to be checked when tightened for room between Solar Strike, which shifted in and Club Zero, which was taken out by Private Jeune.

Near the 900m Solar Strike (D. Lane) shifted in when not sufficiently clear of Private Jeune, tightening that gelding in onto Set To Run, who in turn was tightened in onto Leg Room. During this incident Leg Room also had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Stratumsphere. D. Lane was notified to exercise far greater care when in similar circumstances in the future.

Set To Run raced wide without cover throughout.

R. Beattie, rider of Club Zero, was spoken to advisedly in regards to his whip use backhand on the gelding.

Ms L. Meech, rider of Leg Room, which gave ground over the concluding stages, could offer no explanation for the mare’s performance today.

B. Cox, trainer of Club Zero, was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of LR30A(2) for the late race day notification of rider on the gelding.

M. Webb, trainer of Miss Beautymate was fined the sum of $50 under the provisions of AR140A for presenting the mare in the mounting yard with incorrect gear.

Race 8wangaratta stock foods 0 - 58 handicap - 1170 metres:

Barterer raced wide without cover throughout.

D. Moor, rider of Liberty Shopper, which performed below market expectation, explained that the gelding was very disappointing in his opinion and did not respond to his riding as he would have expected in the straight. A subsequent veterinary examination of gelding revealed no abnormalities.
