CRAIG Williams made it successive Karaka Million when Ruud Awakening, a filly he believes would be competitive in Australia, made a one act affair of New Zealand’s richest juvenile race.
Williams described Rudd Awakening, a daughter of Bernardini, as a filly he “has a lot of time for.”
Rudd Awakening, an odds-on favourite on the New Zealand TAB, coasted to a three length win to add the 2013 Karaka Million to the one he won last year with Ockham’s Razor.
“She looked good on her tapes and she lived up to those expectations. She controlled the race and kicked away and was too classy for them,” Williams said.
Asked if she would be competitive in Australia, Williams replied: “Without a doubt.’
“She has a great attitude, great ability and she puts herself into a position where she makes great luck.
“I got to the front, was able to back off and do what I wanted to. Nothing really challenged her.”
